Great place to work. Strong culture. CEO and senior managers really try to do the right thing. Lots of interesting challenging problems. Really treats its engineers as important valued members of the team.

Cons

Sometimes lack of focus. Lots of early technical debt to work through. Sometimes lack of communication. Lots of junior people in leadership positions. Growing pains.

Pros

Shipt is an incredible blend of hard work, talent and energy like I've never experienced before. Everyone works hard to achieve a common goal of providing the best experience for our members, shoppers and partners. I believe that stems from a common understanding that the opportunity is HUGE for Shipt. Decisions are driven by data. We try to test everything and use data to achieve the outcome we want. In engineering, there is tremendous autonomy which leads to creative solutions to big problems. We move very fast. A long project is considered more than a week. My peers are talented and there's a constant desire to learn more. Recent hires have really added to the depth of knowledge and experience.

Cons

Shipt demands a lot of my time. It's exactly what I'm looking to give right now, but I understand how that could be a negative for some. Processes aren't rigorously defined. I tend to value the freedom in defining them more than being frustrated by their lacking, but it seems to frustrate some. The growth trajectory Shipt is on leads to growing pains as change is constant. If you aren't comfortable with change, I wouldn't recommend Shipt.

Thanks for the feedback, and being the best part of Shipt! I agree that Shipt can take a lot of my time, and I hope that as we have scaled and added new people to the organization that the time commitment has eased a bit. I believe that our culture of change may be the one thing that will not change, but I believe we have put in more tools and processes to help guide new additions to the team.

Pros

Employees (excluding vp and up) are extremely caring, talented and driven. I’d work with this same talent pool anywhere. Executive leadership not so much.

Cons

Constantly conflicting business priorities and misalignment of resources and talent. Our c-level can’t agree on anything. HR seems to set all business decisions, which I’ve never seen before at a company and is concerning.
