Pros

The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) truly lives up to the its moniker as being the #1 ranker Rehabilitation hospital for almost 30 years. Everyone from researchers, physicians and nurses all care deeply about their work and definitely work hard to maintain this excellence. You won't find a better place for intellectual stimulation in rehabilitation medicine and science.

Cons

The pay is average. Since the move to the new hospital certain recommendations regarding workflow processes and facility changes have fallen on deaf ears. This has led to the beginning of a small brain drain.

Pros

Therapists and Researchers under same roof. Big plus, but it comes with a downside with the current settings (noise). Very talented and nice people all around.

Cons

Noisy environment for research. Therapy and research areas are not separated to make them integrated but the noise level is problematic. The higher level management don't seem to understand very well how research works.

Pros

Coworkers are incredibly hard working and care about the patients

Cons

The management is not great. Continue to keep management that is lacking any leadership skills. Pay is not comparative, and the excuse is always it is a non profit. That doesn’t stop directors from getting bonuses.
