Pros

a paycheck and benefits, new hospital

Cons

Take advantage of salaried emplyees, long stressful days for those in direct care roles, understaffed and pay not commensurate with the work demands. If you are looking for meaningful work that doesn't consume all of you look elsewhere .

Pros

My manager in particular is mostly accommodating with schedules. The option to work 12-hour shifts is a plus. The views of Lake Michigan can't be beat. Getting to see patients improve and be able to return home is always one of the best parts of this job in general.

Cons

Staff satisfaction is in the toilet. The amount of employees who get hired and leave in 6 months or less is astronomical. As a PCT, we are one of the lowest-paid hospitals in the city, despite HR trying to claim we are paid a "competitive salary." Many PCTs are less than a paycheck away from homelessness, despite RIC placing more responsibility on them than most hospitals do, for much less pay. Staff attendance is valued more than proper treatment/care of patients. Staffing is incredibly poor and working short-staffed is the norm. Incentives to pick up overtime shifts are a joke.

Pros

Making a difference in the patients life.

Cons

Long hours Little pay Poor management Very tough to get raises Almost impossible to move up the ladder Must be extremely flexible with your job duties and time 3 sick days a year Will get written up for simple things. What is done for the patients is truly wonderful however, working for the company is just awful. Management is terrible, they don't care about you. You have to love the patients more than yourself and your life.
