They consider engineers, a sellers who will get them new projects. If a customer decided to choose a different consulting company or stopped working with them, then engineers get base salary (low) and are kept on the bench. No way for development, you’ll stay as you are. Same position, same salary, very difficult to get a good raise. So better negotiate a good salary from the beginning. Project managers there don’t understand the work you do and they only keep stressing you out to finish a task, no respect for engineering work and you’ll get burn out.
