      Pros

      Loved Sikich. Learned a lot and was inspired by its growth during the two years I worked there.

      Cons

      I personally had no complaints as this was my first full time position after college and I had no expectations. However, many new employees hired after me expected Sikich to be a family friendly, completely flexible accounting firm, which I believe to be an oxi-moron. While I'm sure the Sikich experience is not as intense as the Big 4, you are still going to be putting in public accounting hours and traveling as needed. In addition, and this is another complaint I picked up from other employees as I had no expectations: Sikich expected Big 4 work ethic without Big 4 benefits.

      Pros

      - remote work culture that began before covid and has continued - manageable billable hour goals and doesn’t penalize employees for time on the bench between projects - did not do layoffs during government shutdown like some other firms did

      Cons

      - no formal training plan for new hires or current employees - no automatic COLA adjustments (raises are on merit only) - not a ton of diversity but is improving - multiple recent reorganizations as firm grows (impacts management, little to no impact for staff)
