Sikich Takes Care of Its Own

Pros

I've been with the firm almost a year and I have no complaints. The helped with cost to relocate me and they have continued to take excellent care of me. They follow through on promises and have great culture. They have a nice balance between being professional and laid back. They are very reasonable people, and if you do your job, they'll take care of you.

Cons

The 401k match is only 50% of your contributions (up to 4% of salary) and there is no student loan reimbursement program. These are my only complaints so far.

Nice individuals but caustic corporate culture

Pros

A lot of individual kind, thoughtful people and partners. Some have retired since I left but those individuals kept me there. The corporate office is gorgeous too with lots of amenities. The Tech department is very casual and offers flexibility. It is also a good sized company and personally that opened doors for my next role. I am also still close with many that were on my team (though all of them have left too).

Cons

As someone who did not come from the CPA world, the partner structure was foreign to me. I personally hated it. Having essentially 90+ "bosses" was miserable and at the end of the day - they only care about themselves and THEIR wallets. This will always mean subpar raises, weak budgets, extremely expensive healthcare (because you have to pay for all these old partners and their health issues). You could get all the way to the finish line on a project just to have it shot down by some partner you don't even know. I didnt' realize how frustrating it was to accomplish anything until I left. The politics and backstabbing is unreal.
