Upper management follows the "do as I say, not as I do" protocol. From what it seems, to get promoted it is more about who you are friends with, not your skill set or accomplishments. There is a huge trust issue between hourly employees and upper management. We were told "nothing would change", in the last 10 years there have been lots of changes that benefit the business at the cost of the hourly employee's life. The biggest of these changes is the schedule. Half of the current workforce hired into a great paying job with great benefits that had a M-F 8 hour a day schedule. Then we were force to work this rotating 12hour shift schedule. Nothing else was adjusted to compensate. We still get the same amount of vacation and PTO even though we work more hours on a schedule everyone dreads working. You work 6am-6pm, or 6pm-6am and as a bonus you work every other weekend. Since vacation time was not adjusted we went from 20 days vacation to 13.3 (yes that's a 1/3rd of a day) . Single parents really struggle here because finding someone to take your children before 6am and keep them until after 6pm is very difficult. We were told 3 years ago that Silfex was "working on a solution to that", well we are still waiting for that solution. I am hopeful about the vacation time issue though, we have been told "we are working on that"...
