Pros

Treats employees as well as can be expected during difficult times. Siltronic gave employees several months notice of an upcoming layoff and has been active in trying to help soon-to-be former employees find jobs.

Cons

Siltronic is struggling financially in the smaller diameters. It is closing two plants this year. Closing some of the plants might not help others stay open.

Split 4/3 Work Week - Easy to plan longer vacations Benefits are pretty decent.

Cons

Lack of work life balance - Kid sick? Write up. Car Broke Down? Write Up. Death of your favorite aunt who raised you from birth? No FMLA for non-imm. family. Three write ups for any reason in 1 year - automatic termination. Heavy swings in production - you could be laid off for 6 months, then be called back at a lower wage when it gets busy, only to get laid off again later.
