Pros

SingleStore is a great company with a lot of talented people. Very engineering focused and data driven, which I appreciate. Management is easy to approach and genuinely interested in my success at the company. The product is best-of-breed and has a lot of momentum. Good pay and perks.

Cons

Started during Covid which made initial learning-process a bit harder than normal (but this would be true of any company). SingleStore, however, really embraces remote learning so I think they did an outstanding job. I cannot wait until the offices open back up!

Pros

An engineering- and product-driven company with employee-focused culture that is scaling up. Customers love SingleStore for its performance, robustness, ability to handle mission-critical workloads and excellent support. Top-notch engineering. Strong management team. Great work/life balance.

Cons

Growing pains (rebranding, new executives, focus on cloud) can be disorienting.

Not a Good Career Move

Pros

There are great reference customers. The technology works and solves hard problems.

Cons

This is not a good place for sales reps looking to grow their careers OR to make money (not anymore, anyway). This is a "good old boys' club." The base pay and comp plan is not in line at all with other startups of this size. Top reps should be making more than $500k and no one is making anywhere near that. There is no visibility whatsoever into commission statements - there are no commission statements - so it is impossible to tell if you are getting paid correctly (if it is that hard to find out, you're probably not!). The sales cycle is extremely long, and you are not set up for success. Training is very minimal. The lack of communication is probably the worst thing, especially with everyone working from home. There is almost NO communication among the sales team. No one knows what anyone else is doing. No camaraderie, no feeling like you are part of something big. A very small handful of people made quota this year - almost no one is making money - and 75% of the reps have already quit. If you are looking for a growing, dynamic software company to add to your resume, I suggest you keep looking. This is not it. I got out in time and will not be exercising my options because I seriously doubt they will be worth much.
