Political, non-technical maangement

Pros

Their supply chain and customer relationships are the best in the industry. Depending on your position and role, you get good exposure to Tier 1 customers/partners, as well as state-of-the-art supply chain and vendor capabilities. Stock has done well. If you just want to do your job, take your paycheck and not be too motivated to make a difference, this is a good place.

Cons

It's like a shark tank - heavy politics and finger pointing on lower management by upper management. The culture is evident as all senior management positions are held by sales/marketing professionals with no technical experience or exposure. They have a tendency to block strong technical folks from going up the ladder. The company is always chasing sockets and is never the first one as minimal resources are invested in technology/research. It's all about pleasing the Wall Street. If you lack technical prowess, have done well in a highly political organization, and love your old school 8 - 5 office hours, this is the place to be. Flexible schedules are frowned upon.

Good Job at a Good Company

Pros

Large company with a lot of resources and established processes (can also be a con), makes for a relatively straightforward transition from school. Lots of highly experienced employees. Very solid pay + benefits (including stock options and grants at entry level). Design, manufacturing, testing, FA and customer support are all done on site (at least at Newbury Park) so you can be exposed to all sides of the business.

Cons

Large company with established procedures, so some positions can be repetitive. There is some tension between different departments that can hamper progress due to finger pointing and posturing. Many people do work long hours, although it varies a lot by position

Good people working there. Decent compensation. Challenging atmosphere.

Cons

Shedules are way to aggressive. Lots of hours and weekends. No upward mobility.
