Pros

Good product with good customer satisfaction and a talented and dedicated workforce.

Cons

Been at the company for some time, was a huge fan the first few years, and it took a while to realize they're just another tech company. Outsourcing to international markets so they don't have to pay higher salaries to US employees, "performance managing" people out to avoid reporting layoffs, hiring external candidates instead of promoting from within making career progression very difficult, unfulfilled promises, etc.

Pros

Remote work ERG's and DEI groups Professional environment (to a fault)

Cons

Management has either been completely disengaged or engaged to the point of gaslighting. I got great performance reviews, positive feedback from my whole team and direct management, career discussions, offers to be helped to transfer internally to align with my career goals and offers to pay for certifications, (all of which is documented). Then everything changed. As soon as I started negotiating accomidations for a diagnosed dissability with HR and management everything shifted. All of a sudden in the span of a week or so I was fired for "not performing, and missing technical competencies". This came from management that put me in a non-technical role and praised everything I was doing and had only been in place for a quarter. I was completely gaslit on everything including HR who I was discussing my dissability accomidation with.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback. At Smartsheet we strive to create a culture of belonging that is rooted in respect and opportunity for all people. I’m pleased to hear that our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) made a positive impact on your experience. ERG’s have become the bedrock of our DEI work and help us celebrate diverse voices and experiences, and foster equity to enable people to do and be their best. I’m disheartened to hear about your experience leaving the organization. We take allegations of discrimination very seriously and I’d like to learn more. Please reach out to people@smartsheet so we can continue this discussion. Thank you for your time investment in Smartsheet and for sharing your experience. – Megan Hansen, Chief People & Culture Officer

Pros

The company is good and shows some real promise

Cons

Management at the sales level is approaching the return to work with a really lopsided and outdated view. During the pandemic our sales org performed extremely well and folks were happy with working remote. With the pandemic ending, fully remote work is an option for everyone but sales. For some reason this mentality hasn’t changed after over a year of showing that it’s not necessary and that people are happier to have the option. We are now looking at the rest of the company changing to accommodate the new normal while the rest of us are told that we aren’t equal to them for whatever reason. I guess hearing obnoxious gongs ring while you’re on calls is more important than employees being happy. And that’s fine, but I’m about to turn in my two weeks notice after being here for 3 years and half the reps I talk to are interviewing. Not the worst company but anyone looking here should know that this will be the landscape - sales will continue to exist in 2019 while we watch everyone else get the benefit of working in reality.

As we look to the future, hybrid or remote working options are available to each employee within my organization. I’m proud of the hard work my teams have demonstrated over the past year and the success we’ve had while working remotely. We’ve proven that we can perform above and beyond, wherever we work. We’ve heard consistently from our employees that flexibility in work arrangements is what many are looking for in the future. So while some of us will be returning to our physical workplaces soon, others are welcome to continue to work remotely. Feedback from our employees is directly shaping the future of our collective workplace and collective success, and I will gladly discuss this with anyone on my team. —Mike Arntz, CRO and EVP Worldwide Field Operations
