Pros

They allow us to work from home

Cons

Smartsheet is the perfect case study in how to take a decent product and ruin it with toxic leadership and broken processes. The company pretends to be innovative, but behind the curtain it’s chaos: zero strategy, constant re-orgs, and leaders who are more concerned with protecting their egos than helping their teams succeed. Sales here is an endless hamster wheel. Quotas are laughably unrealistic, territories get sliced thinner every quarter, and reps are set up to fail so management can point fingers. If you enjoy being micromanaged, gaslit, and thrown under the bus while leadership collects bonuses, this is your dream job. Everyone else should run. The turnover is staggering. Talented people don’t last because they quickly realize the culture is built on fear, blame, and empty promises. Career growth is nonexistent unless you’re part of the inner circle of favoritism. HR and execs love to talk about “values” and “collaboration,” but it’s a façade to cover up the fact that they treat employees as disposable revenue machines

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. People are the heart of our company, and I’m pleased that our colleagues have been a positive aspect of your time at Smartsheet. I hear your challenges around senior leadership and management. My aim is to cultivate a strong leadership team that builds an environment of trust, subject matter expertise, and respect, and fosters that same mentality in our people managers. We train our people managers based on their level. I’m disheartened to hear this hasn’t always been your experience. I’d like to learn more. I encourage you to reach out to your People Business Partner or me directly to continue this discussion. – Pete Godbole, Chief Financial Officer
