Pros

Excellent place to work. Work at your own pace, but I recommend multi tasked employees for this company.

Cons

Work on your own majority of the time.

Pros

Rated as one of the "top 100 places to work in Seattle" by Seattle Business Magazine, I had high expectations for employment with Smartsheet, and so far my experience has been amazing. To list some pros: - The management is fantastic - very hands-on and accessible. They mean it when they say there's an open door policy. I've joked around with the CEO (Mark Mader) and CMO (Brent Frei) a bunch of times, and i've only worked there a few months. - The perks -- oh the perks. They treat us like royalty. Everyone gets a brand new Macbook pro or PC laptop, an adjustable sit-stand desk, a laptop dock, and two big monitors to work on. There's a fully stocked kitchen with a bunch of food in it (including fresh, organic, locally sourced fruit), and we get free bagels every friday. Every third wednesday we get Jimmy Johns. - Unlimited sick days - 15 PAID days off a year and 8 weeks of maternity/paternity leave - stock options - Everyone that works at the company is smart and capable. Literally, I have yet to come across someone who hasn't impressed me. No one slacks off, and the company-wide focus on growth and success is visible through the great work everyone puts in. - People are also friendly and kind. Smartsheet has somehow been able to avoid the whole "office politics" thing, and what matters most is the work you put out, not who you suck up to. I've gotten to know a staggering amount of the company's ~300 employees in the short time I've worked there because everyone is so open and friendly. - Awesome physical offices. We work in a nice building, and we've got great views. The office itself has a modern, open design that's really conducive to collaboration. Free parking too! - Great work. The company's rapid growth means that there is very little "busy work". For the most part, everything that employees do is important and has a measurable impact on the trajectory of the company. It's really fun to be a part of such a rapidly-growing business. - mobility. Again, I havn't been there long, but I feel that there are plenty of opportunities for me to explore roles in other areas of the company (if I wanted to). - referral bonuses - $2,500 if they hire someone you've referred. - and much more -- this is just a short list of the things that immediately occurred to me, but I can't say enough good things about this company. I'm sure there are a bunch of great things that I've left out.

Cons

- No 401K match (yet -- they say they're working on it). That's it. Literally, i know there's a "20 word minimum" on these review sections, but Smartsheet is killing it. I just don't have anything negative to say against them.

Pros

I worked for Smartsheet for three years and was sad to leave for very personal reasons. I miss it every day. Smartsheet itself is an amazing product and its customers RAVE about the product. It's nice to work somewhere that the customers use your product out of choice rather than necessity. Think about that. I worked with many departments and it is the norm to be absolutely impressed by co-worker's initiative, passion, creativity, and work ethic. When you spend the first five minutes of a meeting catching up on what everyone did that weekend it reminds you that you actually care about who you do battle with every day. The leadership at Smartsheet is top-notch. You will leave all-hands meetings truly inspired about the future of the company and your role within it. Transparency is excellent and for the most part doors are open if you have an idea or need to know more.

Cons

I'm tempted to leave this section blank as Smartsheet's cons are similar to most companies in their space, but these come to mind: - Flexibility of work environment. You are expected to be at your desk from x to y. In an age where someone may be more productive in a coffee shop, at home, or in another country, it's unreasonable to assume that having everyone in one spot will maximize productivity. Smartsheet hires responsible adults and rewards merit. Stifling that beautiful combination is a shame. - It's TOUGH to get a job at the Sheet. They only hire A players and the interview process is grueling. If you're in, you are a special breed. However, surprisingly I saw at times that people hired to do their jobs weren't allowed to do their jobs to maximum potential due to restricted autonomy. I am encouraged that this practice seemed to be on its way out over the last year and expect it to improve over time.
