      I spent nearly seven years at Smartsheet, with my last role as a Senior Key Account Executive. My review reflects the entirety of my journey at the company. Smartsheet took a chance on me, allowing me to grow from a non-traditional background into a high-performing AE and leader. I’m incredibly grateful for all the leaders who mentored and supported me along the way—especially those in Large Enterprise leadership. Mark Mader is a leader I trust and would back 100%. His visionary leadership in the Collaborative Work Management (CWM) space has positioned Smartsheet for long-term success, and the recent acquisition is another key step in driving future growth. Smartsheet provides an environment where you truly master enterprise sales—from bottoms-up adoption to top-down strategic selling. You’ll work with multiple lines of business, solving complex challenges and delivering real value. That made going to work every day exciting and rewarding. The relationships I built here are lifelong—I still stay in touch with my first- and second-line managers, and even executives reached out as I transitioned out, discussing the potential of a boomerang down the line. That speaks volumes about the culture and respect within the company. If you’re looking for a place where you can grow, be challenged, and work alongside great people, Smartsheet is an incredible place to build your career. Would I return in the future? Always open to it.

      Cons

      There is a lot of change, but change seems to be a constant. Selfishly I miss some the of the leadership that has left, but I respect Max and Steve. You will need to have a lot of different dynamic business conversations and can be overwhelming at first, but that comes in time.

      Learn how to be an exec by selling at Smartsheet

      Working at Smartsheet offers a unique opportunity to really learn how businesses operate across functions. By fully embracing the platform and engaging with customers, I’ve essentially earned a real-world master’s degree in business. After eight years here, I’ve learned more about business than at any other point in my career. I genuinely feel like I could be a CEO at some point based on this experience. I’ve collaborated with virtually every line of business across all major industries, helping customers launch rockets faster, open stores more efficiently, develop innovative products, save lives, host massive scale inspiring events—the list of use cases goes on and on. With that has come a level of consultative, strategic, and business transformation oriented experiences you will not find at point sale type software companies While it may sound like an exaggeration, it’s absolutely true: customers who truly embrace Smartsheet transform their organizations and, in many cases, their own professional lives. I wouldn’t have stayed here this long if it weren’t for the amazing people and our incredible customers. They’re the driving force behind Smartsheet’s mission and what gets me out of bed everyone morning. It’s an honor to be here.

      Cons

      Not a con but more guidance for sales applicants. To be successful here you need to have a diverse hybrid skill set that balances value selling, a consultative customer facing approach, have financial and business process acumen, and be dangerous enough technically. You need to be able sell bottoms up, top down, and sideways at the same time. You’ll be a plate spinner at times, but will find highly strategic opportunities along the way that will earn you a a life changing W2 if you do it all right.
