Pros

SmartSign is a great company to work for if you are fresh out of college, or if you are in between jobs.

Cons

There is NO structure at SmartSign! Absolutely none! Some employees who have been there for years gets the short end of the stick, but if you are new and have the "right type of background" the red carpet is rolled out for you. You cannot move up in SmartSign, so don't get too comfortable or 3 years later you will look up and still be in the same position. If you didn't attend a "good school" you are not going to make it farther than maybe customer service or sales. The owner is a really nice man, but he's very aloof of the real issues that are going on in his company.

Pros

SmartSign is a great, profitable company with a beautiful, new office (although in need of a little decorating). Like people said in the other reviews, you'll meet a lot of brilliant people with smart, strong ideas. It's a small, close knit group, and it'll take a bit to get acclimated, but it's like a family. Get ready to do a lot of good work, make some friends and get a little silly at the Christmas party.

Cons

Sigh. Did I mention this place is like a family? There's no denying they know business, but they're not great with people. There is constant, conflicting information swirling around about the simplest things like sick day policies. You'll rely on the grapevine for information because that's where you'll get the most honest report on how you're doing and what the company plans on working on next. A collegial atmosphere can quickly feel like middle school. A recent hire was lauded as a great choice because they "wasted so much time trying to find a decent woman of color." Get ready for paranoia, tantrums, and tense meetings that feel more like staring contests. You'll have a sense of what seems like flexibility, where you're producing like crazy one day and fired the next. Beware of coworkers masquerading as management, who are so obsessed with their own sense of self-righteousness, they will stoop to base machinations like spying and harassment to get their own way. Productivity is based not on how much you get done each day, but rather how much time you spend physically at your desk. And I hope you like your desk chair, because you'll be in it until 6 pm each and every Friday.

Cons

I worked there for about a month and 2 weeks, the place at first seems friendly but while good is often dressed in fake clothing you won't expect much. First week I was told there is no room for growth but also some one vouched for me like if some else in the room had nothing good to say . Couple weeks down the line I was informed that I was being talked about behind my back and it wasn't about my work ethic because I was always told I'm doing a "good job ". Today 03/13 I was let go because " I was unhappy". The managers didn't even care to ask why I was unhappy ? or how can we fix the situation to pursue happiness. This is a Very Unhealthy, Toxic work environment. Every person I spoke to in there never really seemed happy their favorite saying was " I just work here". I would never recommend this place and for the people that seemed cool I recommend to start looking for better cause out there is more opportunities than this one place. One thing just to end this on a good note I will thank some of you for the knowledge.
