Pros

SmartSign is a great, profitable company with a beautiful, new office (although in need of a little decorating). Like people said in the other reviews, you'll meet a lot of brilliant people with smart, strong ideas. It's a small, close knit group, and it'll take a bit to get acclimated, but it's like a family. Get ready to do a lot of good work, make some friends and get a little silly at the Christmas party.

Cons

Sigh. Did I mention this place is like a family? There's no denying they know business, but they're not great with people. There is constant, conflicting information swirling around about the simplest things like sick day policies. You'll rely on the grapevine for information because that's where you'll get the most honest report on how you're doing and what the company plans on working on next. A collegial atmosphere can quickly feel like middle school. A recent hire was lauded as a great choice because they "wasted so much time trying to find a decent woman of color." Get ready for paranoia, tantrums, and tense meetings that feel more like staring contests. You'll have a sense of what seems like flexibility, where you're producing like crazy one day and fired the next. Beware of coworkers masquerading as management, who are so obsessed with their own sense of self-righteousness, they will stoop to base machinations like spying and harassment to get their own way. Productivity is based not on how much you get done each day, but rather how much time you spend physically at your desk. And I hope you like your desk chair, because you'll be in it until 6 pm each and every Friday.

Pros

The company had an amazing pool of talent. The most intelligent, creative individuals work here. It is a joy to their ideas come together. The offices are brand new and really stand out.

Cons

They have horrible management processes. There is no HR. None whatsoever. It feels like an episode of "The Office". Something minor -- who sends out what emails, who had the sale, what is going to be eaten for birthday lunch -- blows up into a major event. There is not always a clear direction for the work that is being done. Everything feels reactive.
