Horribly understaffed on purpose. Everyone begs for more hours, but management is desperate to save money. The kitchen needs 6 people to keep it running during rush hour, and we usually had four. The second it gets slightly less busy, they send people home. There was a three-hour period in the middle of the day where I was the only one in the kitchen, with someone in the back unloading the weekly shipment and someone up front taking orders. This wasn't an early morning or late-night dead period, this was midday. The average wait time during rushes is about 40 minutes, and customers treat employees like garbage because they have to wait so long. We were forbidden from telling customers the wait time because they kept leaving (understandable). It just resulted in more screaming customers. There was also a ton of sexual harassment. A middle-aged coworker kept grabbing my butt when he walked by when I was still a minor. One of my other coworkers (also a teen at the time) made obscene jokes about all the girls. One of the managers (in his 40s) told a minor that he'd get her pregnant if she was 18. It was a really awful environment. The food safety is seriously lacking, too. Since there's no time to make anything properly, chicken is made en masse and left under heat lamps for extended periods of time. People will use their raw-meat covered gloves to fold and wrap freshly made burgers. Overall, horrible workplace environment that caused me tons of stress.
