While I have been at the company for 15 years, I have changed roles a multitude of times. That's one of the biggest pros of Smithbucklin - there are endless opportunities for employees looking to learn different aspects of the business. That and the people - I truly enjoy working with my colleagues and consider many of them friends.

Cons

Smithbucklin is a fast-paced environment and no two days are the same! Some may consider this a con, but I like that I am never bored and there's always something to tackle.

Pros

Smithbucklin has a very positive environment with nice, smart people. I can always count on my colleagues for helpful advice and support. I learn new ways of doing things every day and am never bored. Client stewardship and "walking the talk" are real values at this company.

Cons

People who do well here are curious, flexible, and interested in the missions of the client organizations. Time management and juggling competing priorities are very important skills. If you don't handle change well, this is not the place for you.

Pros

Great place to build a career. Diverse experience that can be applied to roles in many other industries. Access to senior leadership in both Smithbucklin and in the industries you serve. Ability to build skills in many different areas. Great people (both staff and clients). Work can be very rewarding.

Cons

The matrix environment can be challenging during times when everyone is stretched. Reporting to Sr. Management and Volunteer Leadership simultaneously can leave you streched since neither has total visibility into the other. When staff turnover is high, the need to work in multiple roles to provide coverage can make work-life balance extremely challenging.
