Pros

It is a big organization, and has an outstanding reputation all over the world. There's a lot of opportunity with in the organization.

Cons

Sometimes it gets boring due to repetitive nature of the job. There is not much to do around winter time.

Pros

The scientific community is wonderful. You have a chance to discuss current science with some of the brightest minds in the world. Most people are highly motivated to be working with the Smithsonian.

Cons

Since most managers are scientists by training, there is an uneven set of training among managers. The pay can be much lower than industry given your experience and you are set to the government budget.
