Pros

Company is focused on customers and employees and it shows. I thought that taking a job 10 years ago on a support team might be a quick stop in my career but the impart to customers and salary growth potential for top performers showed me that every contributor is valued.

Cons

Initial after the covid-19 shutdown they were inexperienced at onboarding new employees remotely. I think there is still growing happening at the moment but they seem to have figured this out.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We’re so happy you’ve chosen to make a career working in Customer Care (aka our Support team)! When we ask our clients what they like best about us, your team is consistently ranked as the number one reason. You make our nonprofit clients successful in achieving their missions and that is so rewarding. Many members of our Customer Care team have been helping our clients for years, as you have, and this tenure is invaluable. As you noted, we strive to reward top performers with promotions and increases in salary. Whether you're looking to stay in your role and earn more, are looking to be promoted to higher levels within Customer Care, or want to pursue other roles within the company, our managers help plan those career paths to match your goals with the company’s needs. Many Customer Care professionals such as yourself have chosen a rewarding career supporting our clients, and others have gone on to other roles, such as sales, training, marketing, client onboarding, development, and executive leadership. We appreciate your feedback about employee onboarding remotely. Going from full-time in the office to full-time remote work due to COVID was obviously not something we expected, and it did take us time to gain experience. But our Human Resources team, working with hiring managers throughout the company, worked diligently to build an effective process. Further, we get feedback from every new staff member about their experience, and adjust accordingly on a continuous basis. We’ve come a long way, and our recent hires have let us know that with great marks, and we plan to continue evolving the onboarding process as we learn more. Thank you for everything you do to make us successful, and thanks again for sharing this valuable feedback! Sincerely, Lauren Sheehan, President

Pros

Healthy work life balance, a culture that allows me to exist authentically, support from management, feedback that allows me to be successful, a dedication to maintaining a low stress work life as well as taking feedback. They ask for feedback on how to be better and actually consider it and make changes. A dedication to diversity and inclusion. A voting platform where you can propose ideas to make the company better. Decent benefits, remote work 100% of the time, fun in office days.

Cons

Remote work means I don’t get to see my coworkers as much. The work is technical and hard to learn at first. Pay could be slightly better

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such terrific feedback! We’re so glad and proud that you appreciate the approach we take to make SofterWare such a great place to work. The “Pros” you listed come from listening to our employees for over 40+ years, and creating a work environment that meets their needs, so they, in turn, can meet the needs of our customers. In terms of not being able to see your coworkers due to our remote-first working environment, it has definitely been an adjustment for the whole company. Until COVID, most of us worked in our Philadelphia area office, and spending a day around people you enjoy made it so much fun. There are some benefits to working remotely, including our ability to hire people from all over North America, no commutes, and the flexibility it provides, as well as making it easier to enjoy a work/life balance. But to address your point, we recently decided to fly all employees in twice a year so we can enjoy being together and bond. In addition, we’re always trying new virtual activities, such as game shows, cooking classes, wellness events and other activities. Plus, each department has their own activities, such as meeting in person more often, or having team time on Zoom. The work can be challenging, but that's what makes it interesting and rewarding for so many people. We recognize that the best way to get new team members started well is to have a comprehensive onboarding process with very detailed training. This helps ramp up new employees in a constructive, consistent manner, gets them familiar with our work environment, and ensures they feel comfortable to move forward when they’re ready. As for the pay, we constantly monitor and benchmark our salaries against industry averages to make sure we are competitive. Plus, we offer paths for promotion and growth as the person grows and delivers value to our team and customers. Also, to complement the salary, and offer a full compensation package. This includes excellent benefits, such as a 401K match, profit sharing, paid time off, medical insurance, volunteer time, education time and reimbursement, and more! Thanks again for your great feedback, and we look forward to seeing you in person in June at the next fly-in event (this one will include a trip to the Phillies game!) Sincerely, Lauren Sheehan, President
