Pros

Sony has a great brand and is remarkably stable. Recent years have seen better cooperation across sister companies (Pictures, Music, Playstation) which is encouraging. Sony provides a good work-life balance. The benefits are good and the employee discounts will make you everyone's best friend.

Cons

Sony is a large organization and has all the big company politics that go with it. It is difficult to know what your career path and options are. Frequent challenges arise because our products are from Japan and the US is more or less a sales company that focuses on sales, marketing and logistics. Most jobs here will not be part of the creative aspects of product. Difficult to sometimes get Japanese to see things from same perspective.

Pros

Strong profitable company isn't going anywhere. They do offer good benefits. And you cant forget about the product discounts. Management personally seems to be supportive of employee issues.

Cons

There is way to much of a management layer. Sony in San Diego really doesn't even have the ability to make decisions, 90+% of decisions come from Japan. There is all this management in San Diego that add to the length of time for answers, direction, etc. Development gets behind, every manager seems to always want his/her hand in the pot when it comes to "approving" things, but never when it comes to helping with direction for projects. Sony is meeting crazy, there is meetings for everything, maybe 10% being productive. Projects move through development slow and lengthy due to massive process and procedures put on.
