Pros

You get to be a part of something really exciting and unique. I loved being on set for the filming of games, meeting so many talented people, and learning more about motion capture. Free games and swag. They seem to treat their higher level employees very well. Good work/life balance. Basically, if you are able to find a stable position there, it is probably much easier than being entry level.

Cons

As a production assistant, management was very cavalier with hiring and firing. I was there for one year and watched at least 5 PAs be hired then let go within weeks or months, sometimes for things as simple as having the wrong personality or not learning fast enough. They tell you during the interview that they're happy to help newcomers learn, however in reality they get frustrated when you haven't picked up a completely new task immediately with almost no training. Talking to one manager in particular often was very stressful because they were quite harsh and rude at times. I have a disability and was warned by coworkers not to tell management, which I find concerning. Employees should be able to trust their employers to support them.

Pros

If placed on a large AAA title you will gain borderline unrivaled work experience on a world class level that will greatly benefit you on a resume while seeking work else where.

Cons

However the pay is among the lowest in the industry. The benefits are an insult as they so bad they're is no point in utilizing them. You will be treated as a problem by management if you dare attempt to use your benefits. Middle managements hiring practices do not include rewarding or hiring hard workers. If you provide excellent work on a daily basis for years on end they will not care. if you want to get hired here just write up documents on how to do the job better while not actually knowing how, management loves this kind of thing while not actually reading it.

Pros

Very collaborative, inclusive, and supportive culture with excellent work/life balance. Perks are nice too: free PlayStation Studios games on release day, monthly PS Store vouchers, and discounts on all Sony gear (including but not limited to: cameras, consoles, headphones, and TVs). Plenty of opportunities to move up internally. SIE is one of the few places left where you can make a lifelong career, and many do. It's not uncommon to meet colleagues who have been here 10+ years.

Cons

Compensation could be better relative to the industry, but the excellent work/life balance and gaming perks somewhat make up for it. It's difficult to get a decent raise without "leveling up" to a more advanced role or going the management route.
