Pros

Very intelligent environment, smart people - exposure to current technologies.

Cons

Masketing hype exceeds reality - well chosen wording in postings belies that staff is treated as disposable units - no attempt to assist in re-gearing for existing positions.

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. I’m sorry you left here with a negative impression of Sovos, but I’d like to take a few minutes to address your comments. I have to say I agree with your thoughts on Sovos being an intelligent environment with smart people. We work hard to ensure that we hire the best and brightest, and that our culture and values promote an environment where people of that caliber can thrive and grow. I also appreciate that you recognize our work to leverage current technologies. Thanks for the positive feedback on what you think we are doing well! I am sorry to hear that you feel the team is treated poorly. We invest a lot of time and energy in training, onboarding and educating all of our people. I’m disappointed that you didn’t perceive that to be the case, and we’d love to hear more about your experience directly so we can learn. We truly believe that our people are the most critical component in our success, though do actively look for culture fit and talent over experience because we’ve found it’s the best indicator of success. That being said though, we aim to strike the optimal balance between talented people early in their career and seasoned individuals who can guide and direct our teams by virtue of their experience. While we certainly don’t always operate with perfect balance, we are conscious of those imperfections in team makeup and strive to make adjustments where necessary. Again, I’m sorry to hear that your experience here at Sovos wasn’t what you thought it should be. I appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback, and wish you all the best in your next challenge. - Chris

Pros

+ Flexible work schedule + Flexible work environment - could work at home or in office at your descretion + Casual office environment + Managers advocate for staff

Cons

- Office environment was a bit uncomfortable. Temperature, noise levels, cubical space, plus more could have been improved. - Managers were seemingly unqualified. I think the talent had left the building already by the time I started working there, and they decided to fill the void with favorites... painfully obvious most people in authority were not exactly qualified. - Very immature culture. Playing ping-pong seem to come first and no one cared. - Too much entry level talent as a whole. To glorify this issue, opportunities are offered to potential talent (not actual talent) which put the company at risk because of their lack of experience. Experienced staff ended up getting short-changed even though they are the ones who could actually fix all the problems and bring innovative solutions to the table. How unfortunate they are overlooked for advancement because the cost more? I couldn't figure it out... it was immensely disappointing to see the actual talent get routinely overlooked. - There was a lot of juggling on the executive level. How many times a year can a re-org be done? Big picture - never really got a sense of what this company was about. I knew it was tax software with services, but sales people didn't even know what Taxport looked like and customer service reps could barely even load a data file. When you look past the surface culture, if feels like something is fundamentally wrong in this company.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Feedback like this aids our company in identifying areas upon which we can improve. We continuously work hard to ensure clear direction and strategy for our organization. We aim to demonstrate this through our core purpose, KPI’s, and strategic anchors. Change occurs rapidly at Sovos, which is a reflection of our two areas of expertise: Technology and compliance. We continually evaluate the organizational structure to identify the practices that best service our clients and strive to maintain a competitive advantage in the market. At times, this does necessitate change. We appreciate your recognition of our managers’ advocacy for their employees. It is important that managers work in the best interest of their staff. Again, thank you for your feedback.

Pros

They tell a great story about how selective they are.

Cons

Don't believe it. 85% of the people in my on boarding class are no longer there. Don't quit a job to take this job, you'll be sorry.
