"Transformed" Company lacking purpose

Pros

- Some great team members to work with that make the negatives bearable, for a time - Unlimited PTO and relatively easy to take it - Work from home

Cons

Within the past 9 months, almost all company leadership is new. Many long-time team members and leaders have been fired or quit due to the changes; and due to looking for someone to blame for sales numbers, churn levels, etc, without addressing the real issue which has been lagging progress in company product investment, billing efficiency, and overall company unification after so many acquisitions. The has brought a huge gap in company/product/client knowledge at the C-level, which is easily felt. Another by-product of the changes has been virtually zero company culture; it's not fun to work at Sovos at all anymore. There aren't even attempts at culture-building anymore, and when there are, it's forced and surface-level. It absolutely feels like being a cog in the wheel of a large corporation at this point - no care for an actual team atmosphere, a sense of higher purpose, or the individual employee as a person. Now there has been a total hiring freeze across the board to make our year-end financials look good, even if it's at the cost of other team members' sanity or client issues. We talk about "delighting our customers" but in actions, only money matters.

Sovos Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We genuinely value your perspective, and I want to address your concerns directly. Firstly, I'm glad to hear that you appreciate the camaraderie among our team members, as well as our flexible work policies. The people of Sovos truly make this company special. First, your comments about a lot of leadership change is spot on. To pull off the kind of transformation that our 100s of thousands of customers, hundreds of partners, and thousands of Sovos employees not only NEED, but very much WANT, change is needed. And not just leadership, but everywhere, at all levels and parts of the Company. Change can be difficult for some, that’s always true, but it’s always necessary when you are re-committing to be the industry leader for your clients, partners, and employees. We hear from thousands of employees constantly how much they appreciate and value our commitment to regain the throne and once again be the true innovator in the industry. They acknowledge the ‘heavy lift’ we have committed to on behalf of our clients and the industry, and not only do they appreciate it, they are energized by it. It's truly remarkable to witness our global team exemplifying our core values daily, including professionalism, adaptability, inclusivity, proactivity, collaboration, and accountability. Sovos culture is stronger than ever, and it has reinforced and strengthened what is already a vibrant and tightly knit community. These values aren't just words; they're our culture in action. Bottomline our employees love our culture, are proud of it, and actively commit to making it better and stronger daily. And again, make no mistake, over 100,000 Sovos customers and hundreds of Sovos partners very clearly understand and WANT us to execute this strategy as fast as possible. The customers who buy our solutions no longer want to live in a world where they must invest in people, process, and system integrations across multiple not-at-scale, non-integrated, regional technology solutions that are different by use case, line of business, and country – they want us to – they demand that we – make changes. Our clients, partners – and our employees! – have made it clear that they don’t want to stay status quo and lag the industry – they want us to deliver what we have spent a decade building. To deliver on this, it takes innovation, transformation and fortitude. This kind of rapid pace of change comes with challenges. It’s not for everyone and we understand that some folks will opt out. We never like to lose team members, but we understand when they decide that this innovation journey just isn’t for them. And just to be clear on the facts, we are investing more in people than we ever have in the company’s history - a lot more. While we are being purposeful about our hiring, just like every single other technology company in the world, there is no freeze. We have hired over 200 new Sovosians this Fiscal Year, made hundreds more promotions, and will continue to do. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we continue on our journey of transformation and growth. We are sorry this exciting journey wasn’t for you, but we respect your decision and we wish you nothing but the best moving forward. Kevin Akeroyd CEO

Pros

You have a chance to get an insiders look into "big software" and learning how to manage sales that have a very complex integration with a companies system.

Cons

There really are too many to list. First, if you see any positive reviews they are from Sovos marketing, not from happy employees. I've been to the team meetings and kickoffs, nobody is excited to work here. It is simply a stepping stone to your next job. The products are antiquated on the "indirect tax" side. Customer service is abhorrent. The industry experts and partners rarely recommend Sovos for a bidding scenario and their placement on google is fourth page so nobody can find you to engage you for a bid if they did any research. The management is like a frat house, foul language at all meetings and the treatment of women is sub par. Sovos really needs an ethics officer and someone to come in an provide real leadership. The current upper management is not creative and requires all sales people to operate in a tightly controlled process. They do not have extensive sales experience so they like to micromanage. Because the process they created does not work all of the salespeople lie on their reports or create false opportunity numbers. This company really is a bad apple. I would recommend any of its competitors over working for Sovos. There are much better companies out there. In one year I have seen over half of the sales team leave and almost all of those people qualified for presidents club. I myself qualified and decided to leave two months before reviewing my rewards. It's just not worth it.

Pros

Snacks are good, for the hour they're stocked.

Cons

Product Development priorities change entirely too often. Salary is very low. Very cliquey. Certain employees are treated very well, the rest are treated like dirt.
