Pros

Unlimited time off. Work from home.

Cons

No culture. Does not pay well. If you survive the trenches and crazy turnover you may naturally rise to the top.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. It’s great to hear that you value our flexible policies related to time off and remote work. I do want to push back a bit on your comments about our culture, or perceived lack of one. While I appreciate your concerns, I see it a little differently. Sovos has always had a strong company culture and maintaining and evolving that culture has been and remains, a priority for us. When people ask me to describe our culture, I tell them about our core values – Be Professional, Be Adaptable, Be Inclusive, Be Proactive, Be Collaborative, Be Accountable. We often refer to these values as “how we behave”, because “how we behave” is our culture. It is remarkable to see our core values in action every day across our vibrant and connected global team. Particularly as we go through a period of remarkable and impactful change at Sovos right now, as we make the transition from individual point solutions to the global industry-leading platform that our customers need. While we can (and will!) always do more together to live our values and strengthen our culture, they are embedded in all the ways we recognize, appreciate and support team members – from our recognition and bonus programs to flexible time-off policies to employee and cultural programs. If you would like to share some of your own ideas, I encourage you to connect with your senior leader, regional HR team or feel free to reach out to me directly. I’d love to chat more 1:1. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We are happy to hear that you appreciate the remote work opportunities and flexibility Sovos offers. Remote work is something many of our employees appreciate, but we also understand that there are those among us who need to get out of the house! We offer a variety of in-person opportunities for those who benefit from that environment. Many of our global locations have new, state-of-the-art offices built for the post-Covid world. For those without a physical office, we have several co-working solutions to offer. Creating an environment where our employees can thrive, both personally and professionally, is a top priority for us. I do want to address your frustrations regarding changes in priorities and the challenges posed by a rapidly evolving industry. But our customers and partners have spoken, and spoken loudly, and more of the disparate, disconnected point systems are not what they need. They are not what they want. And, most importantly to us at Sovos, it is not what they are going to continue to buy. They need a singular, comprehensive, global, always-on suite of integrated services to proactively manage compliance. A single source of truth for all their tax data. And while our priorities may shift from week to week or month to month, our focus on building the industry’s only true integrated, complete compliance solution has never wavered. In an industry as rapidly evolving as tax and compliance, where stagnation means falling behind, it’s imperative that we remain agile and adaptable to stay ahead of the curve. We hear your feedback on investing in our current employees before investing in new Executive Leadership roles. And while I understand that new Executive and Senior Leadership hires are flashy and generate a lot of attention, we have actively been working to streamline and reduce management layers, not add more. A streamlined leadership structure can promote agility, innovation, and employee engagement, contributing to the long-term success of our organization. That is not to say we have not added new leaders, you can see that we have. And I view that as a positive. New leadership can inject vision, energy and strategic direction into an organization, driving positive change and positioning a company for future success. Change can be hard, and the kind of transformational change that Sovos is going through right now can be even more challenging. As a new leader, one of the things that brought me to Sovos was the incredible opportunity that lies before us and the work that the teams are putting in to take advantage of this moment. I am constantly inspired by the work our employees put forward daily. Thank you for being a part of that group. If you have any further comments or would like to share ideas, my door is always open. Thank you for your review! We are pleased to see that you appreciate the flexibility and work-life balance that Sovos has to offer. We care about supporting our employees, who make Sovos an amazing place to work. I will completely acknowledge that our company has been going through dramatic changes the last few months. This is driven by strategy, and sometimes people changes have to occur to support that change in direction. While these things can bring on fatigue and be difficult to manage, we are committed to openly communicating with our team on these changes as they come. Right now leadership and coaching matters even more so we can remain aligned and well poised to deliver on these new strategies. I want you to know that I am always available to discuss any feedback you have, answer questions, or help be sure you understand the organizational structure as it is today. Also, make sure to watch our All-Company Open Mic meetings on SharePoint to stay up-to-date on all things Sovos. Lastly, to address your comment on average salary, we can confirm we are aligned with market rates and continuously evaluate our compensation structure to maintain fairness on all of our teams. If you have any further questions on these topics, I would be happy to discuss them further. Thank you for your thoughts as they are extremely valuable! - Chris Lynch, Chief Marketing Officer
