Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you found the job a bit repetitive and that you didn't feel Sovos could offer you long term career development opportunities. I do agree that depending on the role, there may be some tasks that have to be repeated. After all, tax is a fast-paced and ever-changing space and having sustainable and repeatable processes are key to making sure we deliver for our customers. However, career development is usually an area that we excel in at Sovos. We offer employees many training and development opportunities, and reward those who are proactive and accountable in taking advantage of these. We are proud of the fact that over 30% of our employees experience career growth each year. I wonder if there may have been a missed opportunity to speak with myself or your local manager to work our a development plan that aligned with your ambitions. Company culture, real opportunities for growth, leadership that listens and acts – those are the intangibles that make working at Sovos so rewarding. But I’d also challenge you to think about high-risk problem solving as a positive as well. Sovos is not a culture of micromanagement – we take pride in giving our employees the tools they need to make high risk decisions themselves. It’s a great opportunity to tackle problems that allow for some of that meaningful career growth. And, yes, can be a little daunting at times. Which is why my door is always open if you need support, or even just a sounding board for ideas. Great to have you on the team, and thanks for helping to make Sovos a great place to work.

Not a merit based sales organization from what I saw

Here it is in a simple format: -I wasn’t taught how company expenses work when hired -Was not set up with the required VPN and company network information -Sent to a two week training where I was immediately blacklisted and shamed for not having those things set up (people arriving from other offices all had it done as part of their first day or week) -performed, according to everyone in the training, better than the person who I was I unrightfully pitted against by our mutual boss, giving us no chance to work together, and beginning the process of the other person planting untruthful seeds about me to our boss in order to get an advantage -contracted a very bad illness from this person while in a small training room for two weeks -was forced to come into work the Friday after the nine workday training after I arrived at my home airport at 4am -was told I didn’t perform as well as the person I was told I was being compared against -that person was allowed multiple weeks off despite not having to travel back - I was intimidated out of more than two days off when I asked about how unlimited PTO works because if I did I would “look week” -almost passed out while at work, went to a hospital and was diagnosed with a near throat closure, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and lung impairment (I’ve now been told it was Covid) -had the people I sat next to in the office, who refused to help me despite knowing I was sick and what my boss was doing to me spread a lie to their friends at the company that I was acting “high on drugs and had to leave” despite being sick from the company and needing a hospital. This further killed my perception, or brand as they call it there -was told at least three times a day in coded language that I could be fired any minute -required three months of prednisone and antibiotics to finally get better, but had to travel domestically via airplane once a month -was told I wasn’t traveling enough and reminded the team of the last guy who had my job, who didn’t travel enough... -had our first QBR where the person I was hired with presented that they hadn’t traveled once or even done one client meeting -this person subsequently gets a deal that closed in an open third territory resulting in a ridiculous amount of commission -I had a teammate threaten to kill me over the phone while he was unfairly arguing to keep credit on an opportunity that he shouldn’t. His words were “I used to kill people for a living. You don’t want to take anything away from me”. -ended up losing credit on the opportunity because the teammate went behind my back to management saying “he won’t negotiate. He must be too scared -this lie, like the others, further ruined my perception -I eventually outsold who I was hired with, the person given the deal in the open territory solely for “perception” -my boss recorded a series of weird video meetings where he constantly put words in my mouth and wouldn’t allow me to defend myself, which I think he was using to cover himself for whatever ultimately was going on -I was told by HR “you just have to vibe better with your manager. It takes time” -I had no option but to sell a lot and let that speak for itself. I did, outselling the person I was hired with, but as you can imagined was pretty ruined mentally from everything the company and the people there had done to me - while I was forced to work sick I was constantly getting brought into meetings with people who I could tell were looking me up and down and assessing my behavior, not taking into account at all I had just almost died. -I was fired by the company after a personal situation (literally caused by what the company had done) was misrepresented to them. The same people who heard of the misleading situation and had told lies about me being on drugs were the same people who requested I don’t work there any more -I sacrificed all commission I had earned (over $10,000), which still wasn’t as much as the person hired with me got -finally, anytime I tried to discuss this with people at the company who called themselves my friends, they acted like my side of the story didn’t happen because they didn’t want to be involved with it

This review is very difficult to read. As a team, we intend for all Sovos employees to understand how deeply we care about our values and how each member is trusted and respected. What you describe below is not at all how we intend to operate our company or live by our values, or the experience we desire for our global workers. There are parts to your review that make me wonder if this may have been submitted for another company. Our teams have not worked in the office or traveled since early March, when COVID began to spread across Europe and North America, so I am not clear how those situations you describe below could have occurred. Nor can we match any leadership feedback or HR review process to what you shared. We will make sure to follow up with Glassdoor and ensure this review was intended for us. If it was, we are shocked, saddened and truly sorry for your experience.
