Strange culture

Pros

40 hour work week, some nice people

Cons

Upper management wants people to feel as if any day could be their last... and it can. Frequent firings, layoffs, and people put on performance plans. Let people go weeks before they get vested. Owning company changes year to year, all about bottom line, all the time. Incompetence is overlooked, salaries are incredibly low.

Thank you for taking to time to share your feedback, and are disappointed to hear you feel this way about the Sovos culture. At Sovos, we strongly believe in our “Be Accountable” core value, which allows our employees to take ownership for results and improve organizational performance from anywhere in the company. While the majority of our team embraces this value, we do need to address employees whose performance is unsatisfactory. It’s unfortunate, but a reality of striving to build a workplace filled with talented, engaged, and inspired people. We appreciate your feedback and take this seriously, but are also pleased to report that we recently conducted our engagement survey, and 81% of our employees reported they feel appreciated and are proud to work at Sovos. Again, we want to thank you for your feedback. If you would like to discuss further or have ideas on how we can improve please don’t hesitate to contact your HR Associate.

Pros

The work is mindless, if you're into that.

Cons

- No career advancement opportunities - Endless office politics - Not egalitarian - performance is not rewarded while favoritism is rampant and overt - Ideas for improvement are ignored so initiative, energy and motivation are quickly quashed - Product is subpar so clients are constantly upset

Pros

Not much.... if you like to be micromanaged beyond belief, then this would be the perfect place for you.

Cons

The company takes pride in being young and innovative but they are getting too big to act like a start up. Poor benefits, micromanagement, high turnover. There is an assessment that you have to pass twice to get an in person interview but it is clear that they basically offer positions to anyone that can pass it without much regard to fit. Promised room for growth but there is very little. They also stretched the truth about how my compensation package would work.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are committed to attracting and developing great talent within a challenging and rewarding environment, so we're disappointed to hear about your experiences.

We value and consider all feedback and continuously look for ways to improve, but we wanted to take a moment to address some of your specific concerns.

Our rigorous recruiting process reflects our commitment to hiring the best high-potential talent. Candidates are evaluated based on a combination of assessments and interviews to evaluate cultural fit and technical skills relative to the requirements of the role, as well as overall aptitude for success. Given the market demand for our software (45% of CFOs list "compliance" as their greatest challenge), it can be tough to scale our team growth while maintaining our high standards. Fortunately, thousands of people apply to work at Sovos each year so we can afford to be highly selective! One of Sovos' top priorities is to ensure we're cultivating our employees' growth. We have invested in a broad portfolio of learning and development opportunities, including functional area bootcamps and summits, a new learning management system (where employees can participate in over 300 free courses), the LEADS and IMPACT leadership development programs, the IDEA mentor program, the CLOUD rotational program, our generous tuition reimbursement benefit, external professional development reimbursement, continuing education for managers, and more. We additionally seek to provide enrichment for the "whole person" through our wellness program, consisting of social events, lunch & learns, volunteer time off, charitable donation matching, social responsibility programs, and more.

Simultaneously, we seek wherever possible to promote internal talent, preferring to fill open positions with current Sovos employees. Over 175 of Sovos' 750 employees experienced career growth this past year, through promotions or new roles. Based on this stat, we're not surprised that, on a recent survey, "growth" and "potential" were two of the most common words that employees used to describe the company. We are sorry to hear that these opportunities for growth did not meet your expectations.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your opinion. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
