Great Company in a Rough Transition

Pros

Great group of people, truly feels like a family. I understand some of the negative comments that have been posted, but I think it's important to point out that those feelings are localized to certain groups/departments. Like anything, it is what you make of it. I have learned a great deal in my time here and work with a great group of people. CEO has high expectations but understands the importance of a work/life balance. Great benefits, sick/vacation time, and 401k matching.

Cons

CEO and son have had a rough time transitioning management responsibilities, and it has definitely impacted employee morale. This effects some people more than others. Spanco needs to continue bringing in fresh, positive employees who are eager to grow with the company and not get sucked into drama and negativity.

Pros

The people are what make the company. Spanco has some great employees who become like family however they aren't respected, recognized, or paid for what they do.

Cons

The environment is toxic. Many people have left and not many have come to replace them and there is a reason its not a good company to work for. There is no direction for the company because there is two people trying to run the company so it just causes stress to all the employees. Some of the departments don't even have managers because they left. The benefits are average, there is no hr department, and if you are thinking about applying here I would think again. Honestly, I would apply anywhere else but here unless you want to be stuck in the same position, have little growth, not get recognized for the work you put in, and be micromanaged all the time.

Poor management, no direction

Pros

The everyday employees are great to work with. It's a job. Good place to get experience and then get the heck out.

Cons

Company has no direction. Owner and owners son try to take the company in two different directions. High employee turn over. No training or direction. Management has personal vendetta against trying to improve things. Does not like change. Do not expect to make a difference. No overall direction for company. It's the owners way or the highway and he's driving the company into the ground.
