Pros

The company hires people with little experience.

Cons

1) The company has a high turnover rate which forces counselors to facilitate more than the standard 6 groups per week and/or assume a counselors caseload 2) Group counseling consists of facilitating 20 - 30people when an effective group should only contain 10 people 3) There is very little training for the position

Pros

Spectrum hires people with little to no experience, which is great for people looking to build their resume. After surviving a job at Spectrum, I feel confident that I could work anywhere.

Cons

Very little training, almost no support from management, limited supervision, no room for advancement. Management isn't interested in employee performance or client satisfaction. This is very much a for profit company, its mission is to make money, not serve its clients or staff.

Pros

It can be very rewarding to help those who would not otherwise get help, such as inmates.

Cons

Very poor working conditions, all documentation has to be done manually in long hand., unqualified people hired to work as counselors (sometimes not even a bachelor's degree), one person has to do the work of two or three people even when fully staffed, extremely high turnover, supervision is promised but not delivered, very low wages, if you offer constructive criticism you are labled "negative", clinicians are expected to falsify documents, so on. and so on.
