Pros

People are great to work with and staffers leave at 5p -- no burning the midnight oil here. Your cable, internet & phone are free if you are in footprint. If you are not, you get access to an app.

Cons

Management are old men who are out of touch with how to run a technology organization. They throw terms around like "innovation" but they don't want to do anything that is disruptive. Also, their firing methods are abrupt if they don't like you.

Pros

You get Free Cable, TV, Internet and Home Phone and you can work 2 hours a day if you make a sale, no supervision of you have a good boss

Cons

There is a daily phone call where you have to make a sale every night or you are shamed if you make less than 8 sales a month, you get no Comission, you must sell 8 double plays (internet and cable) counts as one sale This is not a good time to join Spectrum Some people owe a lot of money and you can’t connect them unless you put the bill under someone else’s name and even then you can get in trouble if the customer lies and says they don’t owe us money and you connect them. You can get fired for work abandonment You can get fired for not wanting to work until 9pm You have to make 12 sales a month for your boss to be happy The expected is 20 sales a month and that’s difficult unless you have friends at Direct tv feeding you illegal information about each customer Some people have been swindled by outside sales rep so your life really is in danger You knock on doors alone even if you are a woman and often times you can get attacked and your supervisor won’t even care, or will act concerned and give you a rape whistle As if that can stop a rape I heard that at att and direct tv reps can sell to anyone Not at Spectrum At spectrum they give you an outdated lead list with no notes or history about the house and you’re expected to sell the customer no matter what Also if you sell cable and a home phone and an elderly person doesn’t want internet you won’t get paid for that sale Spectrum only pays you if you sell internet and that’s only considered one unit (one product) so you’ll get a 1/4 of the Comission The new product is to sell mobile phones But you can only sell mobile phones to people who have spectrum internet If Spectrum can see what you do online at home and on a $14 a month cell phone then they can track your online usage and create a digital profile of who you are and use that to “target” consumers and sell ads using Spectrum reach. Anyway, it’s super creepy But that’s why Spectrum gives its employees free cable and internet, they know when you’re home They know everything about you even what you search The installers are super creepy and some of them may hit on you as they’re installing your cable The sexual harassment at Spectrum is OUT OF CONTROL if you’re a woman looking to work at Spectrum - be careful and keep your lawyer on speed dial The Bro culture is insane You have to have been an installer of cable to be successful In sales Because they pressure you to make sales within 30 days, salespeople are forced to give assessments of a professional former installer and only an installer tienes salesman who installs the customer himself can reach those 20 sales a month The Chatsworth office is extremely far and you’re expected to attend monthly meetings and they supposedly reimburse you for gas but it’s maxed out at 180 a month So the salary is $11 an hour Your paycheck is about $900 every two weeks You’re expected to clock in by 3pm and work till 9pm Or you can split your shift and start at 11 and work until you get a sale and go home Then run back to your territory before 9 and act like you knocked on 50 doors before the end of the night They say you’ll make 100,000 a year and top producers only make $5000 a month Direct Tv starts at $17 an hour Holding on to a Spectrum customer once you have earned their business is difficult The new customer prices only save money to those people who use very little internet Power users need faster internet and not every family can afford it And you’re not allowed to give free installation anymore You’re only allowed to knock on up to 500 houses a month You’re not allowed to drop off a flyer with your name on it or you can get fired You’re only allowed to leave a plain business card with no Spectrum logos so nobody takes your knock seriously You’re competing with resellers who leave glossy flyers on doors saying they’ll sell you anything direct tv, frontier THE WORKS the position says this job is for people that are 18 Straight out of high school But the most successful reps are in their 40’s doing illegal things leaving flyers and doing everything however they want Your supervisor sometimes backs you up until Spectrum corporate finds out and you’re the one that gets fired not the supervisor It’s a very very toxic work environment, lots of backbiting, secrecy and lies I don’t recommend this job until they get a union

Pros

Salary is ok. Bonus is pretty low.

Cons

Zero trust. You cannot look in any direction without first obtaining VP approval, even as a manager in the organization. EVERYTHING is a manual process, BI is a myth to these folks. EVERYTHING is an email Did you break that thing? No. Ok, prove it or I have to count it against you. Want to go to another team because you are qualified and passionate about that technology or service/technology? Well, as a member of management, I won't prevent it but I won't help you, either.
