Pros

Pay is at market value.

Cons

Poor working conditions: cubes are very opened and extremely small. You can hear a lot of noise and conversations which leads to too many distractions. People have loud conversations right at your workstation that you aren't included in and ignore that you are asking them to leave. No more working at home: They took away the ability to work from home totally without any reason. It was very poorly managed by management in the first place. Expectations should have been told to the employees. And employees needed to follow them. Oppressive atmosphere: Management doesn't trust employees to do their job. They constantly watch your time even though some of your time is spent working at home at night or weekends. No Comp time. No thank you either. Language spoken: It's "us and them." 2 languages are spoken here. Not everyone understands each of them. English should be spoken totally in all conversations. If you want to build a strong team, they need to speak the same language. Work/Life Balance is not respected.

Pros

Worked here when it was called Time Warner Cable. They're still the same. Decent health benefits, free cable & internet, 401K, some store discounts.

Cons

My best advice for any prospective employee for this company is to run away, as fast as you can. I got out as soon as I could. I'm serious, this company is comically incompetent. Only take this job if you have absolutely no other alternatives. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the WORST company I have ever dealt with and worked for. Time Warner Cable/Charter/Spectrum is an absolutely toxic work environment. It embodies everything that is wrong with the American corporate culture. You will soon realize that many departments and employees are out for themselves and there is little team work between departments. It is best to describe this company as a burgeoning, unfeeling, unorganized, greedy Scrooge that will squeeze every penny out of their customers and employees. People frequently shift problems and shoddy work onto others, and get away with it due to the sheer size and anarchy of company records. I've frequently had to clean up after contractors that did below sub-par work for customers, or had to fix peoples' cable bill (otherwise equipment would not activate) because a sales rep wanted commission and signed customers up for unwanted services. Of course when you try to fix these issues, your hands are tied by a maze of bureaucracy and red tape. This is assuming you were lucky enough to have been assigned working equipment, since you will be restocked with refurbished equipment. Management will burden ridiculous standards onto you and will only care about you as an individual based on how many arbitrary productivity points and "customer satisfaction" surveys you can bring to the table. It was expected of me to do 7 "trouble call" repair appointments in a single 8 hour day. Think about it, how much room does this leave for breaks, travel between job sites, or flexibility to deal with unexpected challenges in the field (and you WILL run into many)? Don't take my word for how terrible this company is. Google search "worst companies in america" and you will find Time Warner is commonly mentioned. They may have changed there name, but it's the same status quo. Ask the general public about their experiences with this company and you will find much the same. The reputation speaks for itself. I have forever lost all respect for Time Warner Cable/Spectrum/Charter and never want to deal with them again in any way, shape, or form.

Pros

If you are great in politics, don't understand technology but just want a decent salary - this is the place for you. Also, if you want to learn how NOT to do software development, this place has a long list of examples to teach you that - Releasing Product is their LAST goal.

Cons

Charter is top-management heavy with layers of contractors who do nothing but pass status in different formats. Each silo (Organization) doesn't talk to the other and in many cases is instructed NOT to talk to the other Silo!!! All CXO & VP worship the CEO and this is their way of life - Blind 'obedience' of irrational decisions without questioning and worshiping the person at the top. CEO / company has no vision or roadmap. CEO / top management never speaks to the employees (exact opposite of Time Warner where we had regular All Hands meeting and SVP, Head of Engineering & Product spoke to us and give a vision of the future). All they are interested is petty things like who is in which work location. Output is the last thing they need. Almost all their applications in Charter are on Paper and those that work are broken - it's a joke. Yet they have 100's of meetings to decide if they should continue with TWC apps or not. They are so egoistic, they will never take a SINGLE suggestion from a TWC employee about process, applications or releases even though TWC is way more advanced and caters to triple the number of customers. "For better or worse - this is how we work" is their motto with absolutely no desire to change. There are several departments of PMs and contractors from ALL possible contracting companies you can think of in Colorado. Contractors are now being directly converted into VPs, Sr Directors, Managers - you name it! All you need to know is politics and worshiping the boss - not technology. As long as you can point your finger at another group and CYA you can delay the release of apps for months or even years.
