Pros

You get bagels on Friday.

Cons

Company rushed into new delivery model and placed internal delivery employees into management roles. The result were middle managers with no management experience. Management is inconsistent with flex time or work from home benefits. Even though they offer it in your contract it is not available until one year of service. If you have to travel, you travel on your own time and you are not compensated. Expenses are not covered consistently and you end up with out of pocket expenses for reasonable costs. Employees with disabilities are put into situations that do not comply with the law. In fact people with disabilities are moved into situations that makes it impossible to succeed to the point where they are fired.

Square 9 Softworks Response
7y
We typically feel that the employee should be given the last word and do not respond to Glassdoor postings. This review however was an angry response to termination and filled with fallacies which we felt needed to be addressed. - We have never placed an employee with disabilities in a situations that do not comply with the law - nor has this complaint ever been raised by an employee. - PTO benefits are available immediately as accrued, Healthcare begins after sixty days. The only limitation is the 401K with matching funds which kicks in after one year of service - We are generous with our expenses when traveling and have never asked an employee to pay for a reasonable expense. - There is not a single employee earning less than 40K per year at Square 9 including the employee that wrote this review. . Our employees post their salaries on glassdoor so to state that they are "bloated" is erroneous. - The large majority of managers at Square 9 have been promoted from within. We take great pride in being a place where people have the opportunity to build a long career. To state that there is favoritism is simply false and a disservice to the many people who worked hard to reach the next level. We regret that your performance resulted in termination but feel that you were given every opportunity to succeed with us. We wish you the best of luck going forward.

Pros

Beautiful office space, solid product, good team, fun culture

Cons

Lacking in professionalism - yearly reviews are not a guarantee at all. Compensation not adjusted regularly, pay is well below industry standards, VERY high expectations of employees. Management seems more focused on closing deals than ensuring those deals are successful. New product releases frequently bug-heavy. Customer expectations of delivered projects are poorly managed. Project scopes are usually very vague. Large backlog of projects (currently 6-8 weeks worth).
