      Pros

      Great potential, knowledgeable workers, tremendous capability

      Cons

      Horrible upper management since the Dubai purchase (exodus of the Canadian Management). Executive Management tinkers with things that are not broken and ends up adding too much overhead = loss of profit. Too many "excellence programs" that add nothing to the bottom line. Salary that is not in keeping with the industry equivalents. Central IT is equivalent to pre-80's architecture.

      Pros

      StandardAero is the leader in the industry for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of TFE 731 engines and business jets. They offer pretty decent benefits and work flexibility. There are lots of opportunities for advancements and the company believes heavily in promoting from within. There are many instances of people in higher positions that started "from the bottom". There is a lot of company pride in the shops.

      Cons

      The company does not progress in terms of IT infrastructure. They are always on the verge of a sale, trying to cut costs wherever possible. The company has changed over multiple times and the current CEO has made it obvious that he will get to the bottom line no matter what -- even if means cutting people who have built a lifetime career there. Opportunities for training or keeping up to date with the most current trends are really non-existent. Extremely weak marketing.

      I was employed for 8 years by StandardAero and the long term company goals and strategies are very inconsistent.

      Pros

      Many of the good managers and directors are gone but still a few remain. If you are fortunate to get into a good business unit, your employment can be stable.

      Cons

      Very little, if any, opportunity for progression. The salary is not competitive at all. The company tends to appear to have an attitude that their employees don't really have any other options and they exploit that attitude through the lack of opportunity and salary progression.
