Always has had too much management; NOT enough doers!

Pros

Used to be a nice place to work but no longer since corporate finance triad has descended. Now employees fear getting fired EVERYDAY!

Cons

I believe new bean counters are in over-their-collective heads trying to get their bonuses for cutting essential personnel. S2S better sell the company because bean counters have NO regard for customer service. Current customers constantly ask what is happening at s2s? I can’t get a hold of ... the person who I have worked with for years? Oh yeah they were fired by the new management. All they care about are numbers, not customer’s companies, not employees, not morale. Metrics, metrics,metrics...sorry folks, metrics are not the be all, end all. And who’s doing those? Top heavy management? It is the staff that make s2s the success! Guess you will eventually figure this out when MANAGEMENT’s pockets aren’t being filled.

Pros

Zip, zilch, nada, zero, nothing

Cons

This company USED to be a great place to work up until a couple of years ago when new management was installed in finance. At that point, unbeknownst to the current managers, their departments were usurped, and positions were 'eliminated' meaning employees were let go and their positions filled with less paid employees who would not question the new hierarchy. Some managers who had been with the company for years were given 'special projects' to do once control of their departments were gone. Eventually they were let go as well, or they left because they saw the writing on the wall. Department mergers and employee eliminations have continued since then driven by greed, the goal of providing upper management with bonus money, and to 'streamline' departments. Now, let's be clear. Streamlining to the common person would be to reduce steps to a process to increase efficiency. At Star2Star, streamlining means to eliminate positions, not steps, merge departments, which has resulted in a severe bottlenecking of work. Due to lack of proper training, and oversight by managers that don't have the foggiest clue on how the processes should flow, work is backing up, and the seasoned employees that are left are leaving. Due to all these changes, and the day-to-day threat of losing your job, many of the employees that are left are leaving for other opportunities. This has created a void in knowledge, experience, and personnel needed to get the work done. Bravo management! Star2Star does not conduct background checks (costs money), does not conduct drug screenings (costs money), and they do not give reviews or raises. People have been there longer than two years without a raise despite learning the responsibilities of more than one department. The excuse? The new regime, made up solely by numbers people, have concocted reports that skew the actual work flow so they can justify not handing out raises. I could not with good intentions recommend this company for employment. The only way I would is: 1.) You are new to the area and need a job quickly -congrats, you're hired! 2.) You're fresh out of high school or college and are looking for office experience. You will definitely learn how to spot and identify what an unscrupulous company looks like by working here.

Pros

You will learn first hand how a bad company is run and come to know what the warning signs are so you don't make the same mistake in the future.

Cons

If could rate this company lower I would. It's a complete disgrace how employees are treated. Upon first sight it seems like a good company to work for but after you have been around for awhile you experience the rot. There is an abnormally high turnover rate of employees and when those employees are gone expect the work to roll down hill and find its way to you. The company severely under compensates its employees to begin with then piles on the work. Oh and don't expect to get a raise either, seeing as there is no review process in place and the topic of compensation is taboo even though its everyone's main gripe. Most of the people in management roles are authoritarian, secretive, could careless about you, and will use you for their own gain. Internal systems and work flow is completely disorganized and nobody I mean nobody has a grasp on how it all works together. Not a surprising result when new managers come in and try to rework everything the previous one did, only to fail and end up making things worse.
