Pros

Starbucks has a decent benefits package. The overall compensation for jobs is adequate, but somewhat lower the comparable jobs in the area. Most of my direct managers are responsible and recognize good work. Starbucks does a fairly good job of promoting within. The free coffee or tea benefit is nice.

Cons

The tuition reimbursement amounts have not been increased since the inception of the program and is gives very little pay out. Senior management seems to be completely out of touch with the reality of the business. The amount of training given in the stores and in the IT positions is minimal and is of no real help to anyone.

Pros

The benefits. Good insurance and free drinks & coffee. Reasonably flexible hours, but less so now than before.

Cons

Upper management is in a panic about the economic downturn and is making poor snap decisions. Labor is being slashed beyond reason. The company talks out of both sides of it's mouth, promoting "respect & dignity" while continually decreasing the work/life balance.
