Pros

Benefits are pretty good, and vacation time does add up over time...right now I get about 5 weeks off per year which is hard to beat. I don't know if I could go backto only having 2 weeks per year with another new company.

Cons

Too much change right now, and always seems to have the same struggles: implementation, incompetent employees making drinks incorrectly.

Not what it once was

Pros

No fryers Peer team culture- not cutthroat Great parental leave- for dads too Great bonus if you achieve sales results

Cons

Work/life balance issues due to the amount of unnecessary and wasteful administrative work required Micromanagement from Regional leaders Raises have been pitiful the last few years despite major inflation and all the price increases the company has taken. Stores are doing $10k more sales a week on fewer labor hours than they did before. It shows. No tuition/continuing education benefit unless you don’t have an undergrad degree. Expect pressure to produce results and metrics with no autonomy to invest where needed or spend time where you should be.

Starbucks is NOT okay.

Pros

Outstanding benefits, decent pay, flexibility in scheduling (usually), and can be fun if you’ve got a good team…

Cons

…but if your team is weak, you’re in for a RIDE. Pushed to the absolute limit to meet unrealistic expectations. Customers modify the daylights out of their drinks; extra shots, multiple syrups, sweetener packets, shaken, cold foam, etc, and it is simply NOT POSSIBLE to push a drink like that out in the requisite 45 seconds. On top of that, they will delight in arranging/rearranging the layout to make things even more difficult, like putting sugar packets and sweet cream several steps away (some bs about uniformity even though it is logistically impractical) and if you try and arrange the workspace to suit you, you’re threatened with a write up. New partners are not trained properly, leading to mistakes, mad customers, and burnout. The turnover is so high because people get frustrated and quit.
