Pros

Overtime is plentiful, paid at time & a half!!!! Great benefits (401k, health vision and dental insurance, credit union, relocation assistance, & more) Casual dress code. Good reputation. The rules, procedures & processes are clear. Huge company. If you're money driven - you will love it here.

Cons

Drastic changes in the last few years - hopefully some of this will be reeled back soon because long time employees are leaving. It's very "corporate" with new Crazy Procedures & Processes: you bid for time off a year in advance (only 1 in 5 employees will be off for days around the holidays), attendance policy (you're assessed points for last minute absences like being sick, points for being late, etc. Too many points & you're counseled, written up, then fired). Pay structure has changed - it's harder than in years past to increase your annual base salary - your raise is mostly a lump payment with only a tiny bit, like 1% added to your annual salary). Stressful Work Environment; but if you can handle it - you can make A LOT of money in overtime - like 20k a year. But sometimes they limit overtime, so you can't just depend on it.

Pros

Decent benefits, competitive salary. I had to write at least 20 words under "Pros" to submit this. This is all I could come up with, unfortunately.

Cons

Zero flexibility. Zero job security. Zero work/life balance. No Fridays or Mondays available for Time off until March of 2019 (it is now Mar 2018). So no long weekends for an entire year. Nearly impossible to find capacity to leave for a 2 hour Drs appt. Drs appts are supposed to be overridden, but they make you jump thru hoops (reschedule the apt, or switch entire shifts with someone else) to keep your appointment. This involves another person's full schedule for one person to go to their Dr. Completely senseless. You have to bid against everyone else for vacation time off. Then, because capacity (time availability) is so low, you often have to come in for an hour in the middle of your time off, limiting out-of-town getaways with your family. This is becoming all too common. Years of employee loyalty no longer mean ANYTHING to State Farm.
