Pros

You can wear what you want to work, Tattoos are okay, Piercings are okay

Cons

Micromanagement no work-life balance rearrangements of our paid time off to include LESS time off than originally presented. State Farm used to be an exciting place to work. Great benefits, great atmosphere. Tenured people are leaving State Farm's DuPont office DAILY. The "new model" is why Geico will soon be the number one auto insurer in America. State Farm has really lost sight on how to be a good employer.

Pros

401K, Pension, meet some really great people as co-workers and even encounter great people through speaking to policy holders on the phone that you can help. Some Mgmt is amazing its the luck of the draw!

Cons

Ok so you can accumulate sick time so if you work there a long time like 20 years you could have 200 sick days. Sounds great? Well if you are out sick more then 3 times they "talk to you" after that they write you up. Oh but if you have a Doctors note for the time out you can do this thing called "protect your time" so they can't hold it against you. It's a whole big thing. The point is thanks for the sick time that you give me and then play games with me when I use it. Vacation you can be there 1 year or 15 years and who ever puts in for the time off first gets it. There is no perks for seniority. The company is constantly going through some kind of reorganization in which they close offices and tell the people listen transfer or lose your job. Take your family only to years later close those office and tell those people listen we are reorganizing again so if you still want your job come on MOVE! They tell people the only way you can get promoted is if you are mobile and willing to move your family around. If you say no well then you will never be in Mgmt unless you know someone and your on that special "list" then well you get a pass. The work is just dumped and dumped and the claim reps and processors are over worked. Its a shame because if they were given the proper work load you have great employee's there. I joined the company at a time when the company cared about its employee's and the employee's cared about the company. When we were the Good Neighbor and we were proud to say that.

Pros

paid holidays lots of perks and discounts within the company and elsewhere because you are an employee of statefarm. pay raises at the end of the year whether you really deserved it or not. good bonuses throughout the company each year.

Cons

ran like a nazi camp they tell you when and how long to take breaks and lunches. everyone gets written up for little things, like coming back 1 minute late from lunch. mangement does not care about their employees. I asked my supervisor to leave because my grandmother was being rushed into surgery, after I got her approval, I left, only to come back the next day with a write up for leaving and was considered AWOL for the time I was gone. once youve been written up, there is no chance of moving up in the company. its like the management writes you up for their own enjoyment.
