      Once great industry leading company being destroyed from the inside.

      Pros

      One of the few companies to still have a pension....although 401K match is a joke at $900.00 a year.

      Cons

      Massive recent firings of thousands. Not enough folks left behind to keep the promise to policyholders. Management knows this but does not care. Horrible work/life balance. Morale low companywide. Third party vendors now used for as much as possible. Low quality, low skill, lacking skill set/knowledge base at entry level and as a result...poor service and high turnover. Company being destroyed at every level...from the inside.

      Pros

      Financial Strength. Claims folks are THE best, but not supported and understaffed.

      Cons

      Leadership has no autonomy to make decisions. Lean & Six Sigma principles are great, but overdone in a NON-ASSEMBLY LINE environment. It seems SF is simply "another big corporation" and not what it once was that made it the best place in the world to work.

      Benefits are great compared to other large companies

      Cons

      Points system for attendance with zero flexibility for major life issues. If you have kids, especially those in daycare who will get sick, this is not the place for you. The company doesn’t really seem to want independent thinkers or feedback. Follow management and tell them their decisions are awesome, no matter what.
