Pros

None that I can think of.

Cons

Regional managers are hard to get ahold of, slow to respond, and seem like they just don't care about our concerns at the property. Employees at corporate appear as though they want to help, but are also hard to get responses from, because they're stretched so thin. For a company that manages so many properties across the country, you would think that they'd invest more in resources for field employees so that we could best serve residents/potential residents.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Steadfast Companies. I’m disappointed that your time with us has not been as positive as it should be. We are always looking for ways to improve our operations and based on your review, it seems that focusing on the associate experience, as well as streamlining operations will help our associates onsite. We have initiated a number of changes in staffing, policy and resources to improve our systems, technology and practices. We are confident, these enhancements will result in better communications and consistency for our site teams. Our associates are the number one priority and your feedback has highlighted the areas we need to continue to focus on. If you should have any additional information, please reach out to us at SHR@SteadfastCo.com.

Pros

Not too much pros, other than nice building location for office, large break rooms, and free bagels provided by company every other Friday. Most of my teammates, as well some of the girls at this office from other teams, are very nice people and easy to get along with. However, the higher-ups at the company are generally the opposite: selfish and not very approachable.

Cons

Accounting dept is pretty much like revolving door in past couple of years and getting worse over time. Staff Accountants are assigned too many properties at a time since high turnover causes their responsibilities having to get re-distributed among remaining accountants. The decisions being made at the top seem to be causing low job satisfaction overall, but especially in Accounting dept. IT dept. is also not very helpful to accountants and some of them are just plain rude. They try to rush through our request and do the bare minimum without taking the time to understand the actual issue being reported. I get the impression that IT dept doesn't have things in order and need maybe additional training or knowledge base to refer. The company sort of create a disadvantage for employees from any other race/religion besides Christian Caucasian. The CEO and other executives/upper management have made it clear in the mission statement etc, that this company is a Christian company. For example, during yearly teambuilding company picnic, the CEO led all employees in a mandatory Christian prayer. I had no direct problem with this really so I just went along with it....only felt a bit awkward. But made me wonder if many of our work colleagues who do not observe the same religion would be uncomfortable in this situation. Speaking of uncomfortable, since most of the higher-ups are men, the female employees (esp. those at lower employee ranking) do not seem to be treated equally at Steadfast compared to the men. An example is when my female teammates and I would be very regularly harassed, sometimes sexually (openly commenting on our looks/weight), by one of the executives from 3rd floor who would visit from time to time. Unfortunately, none of the ladies who experience this would ever be willing to report this behavior due to fear of possible consequence. So it kind of just went on for many months without resolution and made a stressful work environment even more uncomfortable.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We welcome the opportunity to learn from our associates, both those whom have chosen to pursue new opportunities and those who continue to be a part of our Steadfast Family. I would like to point out that although the review was helpful in some areas, there are a number of statements included that are not based in fact. 1. The comment that female associates were harassed by an Executive on the third floor was never reported to anyone in Accounting Management or to anyone in Human Resources. We would never knowingly allow anyone to harass any of our associates. We are also unaware of any Steadfast Executives housed on the third floor, and the only people in leadership positions on the third floor are female. As a matter-of-fact, all key management position in the Accounting Department are held by females. 2. We disagree that the company creates a disadvantage for any race other than Christian/Caucasian. We are happy to note that our company is ethnically diverse, especially in the Accounting Department. While we may cite a prayer before a company event, mandatory participation for those who have other religious beliefs has never been and will never be required. 3. As to the comment that the “higher-ups” are men, please note that we have many women in Leadership positions, from the Executive Team to Accounting Management. We also believe our Leadership is very approachable. We will be working with all levels of management to make sure this approachability remains intact. 4. Prior to two years ago, there was a great amount of turnover in the Accounting Department. Over the past 18 months, however, we have had very little turnover and are working diligently to make improvements and implement efficiencies so our team has higher job satisfaction and works less hours each day. We continually look for additional ways to improve our associates’ work/life balance. 5. One such way…the IT Team has implemented a new Helpdesk that will improve response time to requests as well as adding IT personnel so that the team is available for more hours each day, which will provide better customer service for all associates.

Pros

For the most part this was a pretty good company. PTO, benefits

Cons

After the merger in Dec (which they were very secretive about and never even explained to us), the focus shifted from employee satisfaction to profits. Its going to be pretty hit and miss for you...many properties have very high turnover. I would definitely avoid Montecito Apts in Austin.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are disappointed to hear that your experience did not meet the standards that we have set for ourselves here at Steadfast. Although Steadfast has experienced a fair amount of changes throughout the organization, we continuously strive to operate within our Core Values, specifically Value People. Our teams are working diligently to streamline processes, improve hiring, and retaining talented associates. We also strive to be as transparent as possible through our company-wide town hall meetings where our leadership team discusses company wide events, goals and initiatives, including the disposition of projects, like Montecito. We appreciate your feedback.
