Pros

All the lower level people are amazing - that's it

Cons

Where do I even START. First, if you're looking for a place with HR, I would not choose here! If you report anything to HR, HR will tell your manager and you will get fired. I watched it happen to 5+ people! Second, the politics in this company are out of control. All the higher ups are constantly fighting and taking it out on everyone else. Being there for almost two years, I had four different managers, three VP’s of marketing, and two creative directors. No one wants to stay here because the culture is so toxic. From the outside looking in, you would never guess the internal mess building there - it's awful. Third, there’s no ability to grow here and the higher ups only promote themselves. Unless you are someones favorite, they will continue to pile on responsibilities without additional pay or compensation. They enjoy taking advantage of you. The compensation is so low and there are really no benefits. Fourth, there are rats and cockroaches all over the office. If commuting to queens isn’t bad already, we are surrounded by rats and cockroaches every day and no one does anything about it. Fifth, everyone at this company is somehow a nepo baby. Everyone knows Steve in some way and it creates an uncomfortable work environment where there are “favorites”. Sixth, the job overtakes your life. They force you to make it your whole life. They want you to eat, sleep, and breathe Steve Madden which means working at all hours and on the weekends. The consumption is so draining. And finally, Angel Xu is the most difficult person I’ve ever worked with. She has a barbaric management style. One of the rudest people I've ever met, she has no ability to communicate and makes no effort to. She demands respect but lacks the common sense to show an ounce of respect to anyone else. She has no sense of priority and is constantly stressing everyone out with last minute tasks because she cannot handle anything. She barely does anything but takes credit for everyone else’s work. On trips and events, she sits on her phone or invites friends to eat and drink on the company’s dime. She screams at people until they cry and their noses bleed. She fakes analytics on her projects to make herself look better. She’s condescending and lacks basic social and people skills. She’ll be fake nice to your face and destroy your character behind your back. She finds joy in putting others down and even thrives on it.

Pros

Chill dress code, Employee discounts, free samples

Cons

Company plays favorites and will fire you if you stand up for yourself. Uses terms like "team player" as a disguise for being a slave. Expects you to work for free, often. Untrustworthy and conniving mgmt/staff

Pros

Relaxed dress code all year. Free breakfast every Friday. 40% discount on Steve Madden brand and some other brands owned by the company.

Cons

There is little to no actual development work since most of your time will be spent on bug fixes due to poorly built software. Extremely abrasive senior developers who have limited knowledge of coding. No room for growth. Bad leadership within the technology group. Expected to work on holidays with no pay but cannot work remotely. Very limited vacation/sick/personal benefits. I never once heard from the CEO or Senior Management about the status of the company, whether via email, company events, or some other means.
