Hostile, passive-aggressive work environment. Everything you do is tracked (time to style, if you got the fit right, if you stayed within budget, how much the customer kept) which would be fine if they actually had inventory or their IT worked. CONSTANT server errors, CONTANT problems with Minx (their inventory software), CONSTANT lack of inventory (only sweaters in July, no shorts, no shoes, etc).
Then you have to put up with this cheerleader attitude from your team (imagine a cute cheerleader holding a knife behind her back) because you can't complain. Plus you have to deal with feedback from clients who think you're literally shopping the Internet for them and can't understand why they aren't getting what they request (natural fibers, short sleeve top, only in solid, bright colors all under $40) and you're not allowed to tell them "we don't have that".
You are only paid $15 an hour but the flexibility of the job made it worth it. Sometimes. You were given your next week's hours the Friday before and while you signed up for 15 hours/20 hours/25 hours a week, you rarely got the full amount of time so you couldn't really budget. (some weeks you'd be assigned only 5 hours!) While flexibility was great, the repeated tech errors above meant you were often rescheduling your day around their issues and your life revolved around the job. Now they have taken the flexibility away and you are suppose to "block out" your hours but no one can tell you what you're supposed to do when their software is down or you're pulling Fix after Fix that you can't style because they are no tops, no pants, no dresses, etc in inventory. If you Google you can find tons of articles about how they just lost 30% of their stylists because of these new time limitations.
Btw, we are only given 12 minutes to read your name, location, style profile, and past purchases. We don't actually see or feel the clothes, we only see pictures like you do in your Shop. We don't have access to your Shop or your style shuffle yet customers are constantly berating us and calling us "dumb" for not sending what they saw online.
If you look at their social media, you will see women and men of different races, cultures, abilities, LGBTQ....but you know what you won't see? People over 50. Or 60. Or 70. You are inundated with emails from management about how inclusive they are but when you look at their social media (or their company "yearbook") you come to see how ageist this company is.
If you're looking for a remote, part-time job, look elsewhere. Find a company that will value you.
