Pros

Having a remote role as a stylist was nice, and the employee discount was nice, as well. Styling can be fun when inventory is good.

Cons

Company changed the scheduling policies, which made the flexibility of working there impossible for many. The schedule flexibility was one of the draws, so removing that made the position less appealing, and in my case, impossible to do, as the timeframe they allowed you to work in conflicted with my full time job. I had a great team lead, but I've heard that there is a lot of toxic positivity in other areas, which results in stylists not getting the support they need. Inventory has been terrible for years, which makes it hard to style and makes clients upset, which they often take out on stylists. The new CEO seems to want to phase out stylists and go to more of an algorithm, so be cautious. Stylists are clearly disposable to Stitch Fix, so it doesn't feel like a very solid role at this time in terms of stability. Watched them cut all of California's stylists on a dime during the pandemic, and then continue to cut a huge portion of stylists with their scheduling changes, also during the pandemic. Was a great place to work when I started, but gradually rolled in changes that made it clear they're not invested in their workforce.

Not what it used to be

Pros

Working remotely is the only current positive.

Cons

Stitch Fix is worried about their bottom line and not their employees. As a stylist you are expected to change your schedule week to week, sometimes day to day based on issues on Stitch Fix's end but then expected to adhere to their strict guidelines of scheduling out two weeks by 15 minute increments. Your metrics are constantly watched and if you fall below you will get coached by your supervisor. The Stylist role was promoted as a part-time, flexible job and it is not that at all. The culture is toxic and the false positivity is laughable.

Efficiency is killing this position

Pros

I loved picking out clothes and making women feel amazing in them.

Cons

The company has recently gone public and brought in execs from the big online retailer that is obsessed with efficiency...you know, the one that fires people for using the bathroom at their warehouses? So yea, now they are in charge here and they want stylists to crank out Fixes but really they want robots to take it over. They want the AI to choose all the clothing while your human stylist writes a note and makes you think they chose the clothes. It is a bait and switch. The company culture has taken a complete turn. I advise you to stay far away from this job. They promise flexibility but that is 100% not the case at all.
