Worst experience of my career

Pros

-Excellent pay -Many other people who work there are nice and trying desperately to look out for one another

Cons

-Every decision made at Stripe is done so in a desperate, terrified bid to avoid the CEO's disapproval. That is it. That is the sole cultural center of Stripe. -Individualist, often offensive, seemingly misogynistic CEO surrounded by "yes" people with not a single soul in leadership willing to call him out. -Messy messy messy. Internal processes, internal communications, internal organization, policies, procedures, etc. either don't exist or are impossible to track down and understand. A shiny exterior, but inside the employee experience is nearly impossible to navigate. -There is one specific type of worker who can thrive at Stripe. And if you have any cares in the world outside of looking like a producer at work (read: family, hobbies, children, morals, etc.), you don't fit the bill, and you will feel bad every day.

Pros

+ Patrick and John are great, very transparent, and accessible to employees (same for the rest of the exec team) + Onboarding process is top-notch compared to other valley companies + Transparent communication and very good documentation (people produce lots of content here) + Benefits are generous (food is on point) + Resonates with company mission, actually helping lots of small companies to kick start and grow by accepting payments + Co-workers are extremely helpful and intelligent

Cons

- Wish I started at Stripe earlier - Somewhat stressed about work (not in a bad way), which pushes me to learn and improve constantly

Pros

Fast paced, good for growth Ambitious coworkers Intersection between software and finance is interesting

Cons

Some managers are insecure and take out their stress sadistically on new hires (and aren't afraid to verbally assert that's what they're doing out loud to your face to get a kick out of your reaction) Nepotism from folks who joined Stripe after working together at previous companies is apparent Attrition is high, so the majority of folks lack important context and many folks have perpetual anxiety over getting "disappeared" Just ask someone at Stripe to read the internal Blind to see internal sentiment with your own eyes There is no job security at Stripe Valuation went down
