Pros

I recommend Subcom (cable ships) to anyone wanting to learn a new trade or if you're a new Officer. Not only will you get normal shiphandling & marine training, but you'll learn DP from a perspective that you can take on any type vessel AND you'll learn cable from the perspective that can also translate to a shore career.

Cons

Cable is my 3rd maritime industry (MSC, drill ships) and I discovered I was uninterested to become passionate about a brand new maritime trade. Come here if you are still in learning mode. Although this job was very interesting, I went back to what I know.
