Pros

Great benefits including 401k match, health, vacation time. Senior management seems amazing, love values/mission statements

Cons

Branch management-VERY inconsistent in their training & low expectations for them, when problems nothing’s addressed, company heavy handed in employees but not when it comes to managers. Values not upheld like in the past, seeming to lose Credit Union difference becoming more like bank i.e. more sales focused less people focused. HR is not for staff but for management. Inconsistent promotions-not deserved but need to fill role, but doesn’t promote when deserving. (Many examples of this-example of inconsistency) IT-hire more people and get more prevalent.

Pros

Great benefits, I made a lot of money

Cons

Very high stress, little to no recognition for well exceeding goals. I was in a commissioned position and worked extremely hard to maximize income, but upper management didn't like that I made more than them so they drastically lowered the pay structure. They changed it 4 or 5 times during my tenure. I also had 5 different bosses in 7 years. I am told that the CEO, Kim Sponem, held meetings to discuss reducing pay for mortgage lenders because I was "making too much". Kim's ego knows no bounds. The Credit Union was making a lot of money because of my efforts. I produced about 18% of the volume with at least 12 lenders being on the team. Yet upper management gave me no recognition. They pay their mortgage lenders a below market commission because they think anyone can step into the position and do the job.

Pros

Truly caring about members. Gain share bonus. They try to promote fun at work. Good retirement benefits. Worked with a lot of genuinely nice people.

Cons

Working a lot of evenings, weekends, holidays. High turnover at branch so we were constantly understaffed. As a teller you have to run so many transactions nonstop during busy times, plus make referrals so it's easy to burnout. Sometimes it seems like they treated employees like children. For example, there would be a contest to make as many referrals as possible and the winner got a candy bar. As an adult, I'm not motivated to hustle for sales day in and day out for rewards like that.
