New CEO means maximizing profits above all else

Pros

Sunstate employees pre Norty Turner being brought in as CEO were amazing and upheld the original Sunstate culture. If you are able to stay, you definitely have some room to grow here.

Cons

The new CEO was hired from the outside. Norty Turner holds little to, if any at all, of the values that the Watts family had worked hard to uphold. Sunsate was a family and people first kind of company. After Norty took over, it seemed to be less and less of that and more of how can we squeeze more profit. His first 100 days began with layoffs, crunches, squeezes. Really, it was a disrespect to all the wonderful people sunstate has acquired over the years. Do not expect the CEO to hold any loyalty to you if you join. Save your loyalty to a company who has a CEO that actually cares because Sunstate is no longer that company.

Thank you for sharing your perspective—and for the contributions you made during your time at Sunstate. We understand that leadership changes, especially in a company with such a strong cultural legacy, can be difficult and deeply personal. The difficult decisions reflect a broader commitment to ensuring Sunstate remains strong, sustainable, and ready for the future.

2025 has been constant layoffs and firings. no annual raises. people are overworked because teams are gutted. Norty gets visibly upset in meetings when people dare question him.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that change can be unsettling and raise questions. But we’re not preparing for sale—we’re investing in building a stronger, more resilient Sunstate for the long term. Through it all, what’s stayed constant is how much our people care about each other—and that’s something our values will continue to drive and support.

New CEO means lots of changes

Pros

Customer Service; Good People; Growth

Cons

With new CEO’s first 100 days, there has been an increase in turnover, job eliminations, too many changes at once without keeping the #1 thing Sunstate is about the People. The ‘employee engagement/morale is very low.
