Pros

Supermicro has great health coverage and lots of people from different countries(Taiwan, China, Vietnam, etc.) to interact with.

Cons

Unfortunately as a salaried employee, I am required to work 55 hours per week(9am-8pm on weekdays, and 10:30am-3:30pm on Saturday). These hours would be acceptable there were alot of projects to complete, however there is often little to do and I find myself with an unbalanced work life. The real problem with the company is the competitive culture fostered by upper management. The CEO believes that having different teams competing with each other will improve performance. However, this results in the teams stealing ideas from each other to get ahead and creates distrust within each department. This problem further exacerbates productivity in that each group cannot ask another group for help or access to their existing/old projects. I can finish projects much faster and with better quality if I had resources from my coworkers. Instead, I feel like I am always reinventing the wheel.

Pros

no pros, can't think of one

Cons

No respect – your coworkers are late to meeting, no response to emails, speak loudly, interruption while you are talking on the phone. Executives/managers first. Only say yes and no say no. No humanity working in this company. No flexibility. 2 weeks of vacation pay each year but asking 2 weeks off is hard. You probably ending up take 1 week off only. The company has 401K plan but no matching at all from the company. Company is cheap, don’t expect your raise is high although you work long hours. They give you 200 dollars raise each year. Long working hours, no appreciation from the management or company. If you are a family oriented person then this is not a place for you because you will not have time for your family. 90% of the time your time will be in office. Poor communication and inefficient working style. No laptops only managers and up use laptops. If you are not managers, you better be prepared to work in the office day and nights. The company is cheap that they don't have winzip because they don't want to pay for it. THey make you use free download 7 days trial of winzip. This is a 2 billion dollar revenue company but yet what they use is not close to a high-tech at all. No winzip, computer systems are very out dated. No VPN, NO webex. 2 copies machines and using my 100 people in the whole building. Also this place is very political and it is not a good place to work at all.

Pros

-Super Micro's healthcare is incredibly good; I had Kaiser and did not have to pay a monthly premium. The co-payment costs and prescription costs were all very good too. -My position did not require working overtime, however with many other department there was overtime.

Cons

I thought the compensation could have been more competitive.
