Pros

I am trusted to do my job at Surescripts. We are moving fast and sometimes companies lose out on opportunity when they get into analysis paralysis. I feel Surescripts does a really good job of balancing risk and making good decisions quickly when needed. The culture at Surescripts is one of my favorite parts of the company. Because we are mid-size, we are still able to do full company events with employees and sometimes our families too. We have a great sense of community and truly care about one another. Work is our priority but strong friendships are abound at Surescripts too.

Cons

We are working hard on improving the way we work between departments cross-functionally. We are growing so we are often focused on making sure our own teams are working and communicating effectively. We know we can do better across the company and are actively working on a plan to improve.

Pros

You know those people in your life that won't shut up about how amazing their job is? The ones that authentically love what they do every day? Well, I'm one of those people and I’m not sorry about it. Here are a few things I love about Surescripts: 1.) The team at Surescripts is such an amazing group of people to work with! I can honestly say that the people who work here are bright, motivated, and passionate about the role they play in our company and the Healthcare industry. It's energizing to come to work and be surrounded by people who are great at what they do. It makes me want to be the best version of myself I can be! The culture and talent at this company is one of many reasons I am still a satisfied employee. 2.) The focus we place on our customers is felt throughout our organization. It's in the very fabric of who we are and at the end of the day, it's ultimately who we hold ourselves accountable to. Working someplace that you can feel the impact you have on your customers every day is so rewarding. And when we hear that something needs to be changed, we don't hesitate to roll up our sleeves and change it for the better. 3.) Surescripts does a great job focusing on employee engagement and that is something that I personally feel more at a smaller company (less than 1,000 employees). For example, I'm able to have a conversation with my executive team when needed without feeling like I'm a burden or wasting their time. Not only do they know my name but they at least have a general sense of what I'm working on which is so empowering! Surescripts also knocks it out of the park with employee events. There are events all year round like baking competitions, company picnics, or our annual holiday gathering. We also have ticket drawings for sporting events and contests throughout the year that give employees an opportunity to express their creativity.

Cons

No company is perfect but at least the things that Surescripts has to work on are relatively easy to address. Here's what I don't love so much: 1.) Surescripts is a company that has grown relatively quickly. An unintentional consequence of this growth is that some of what I would consider foundational pieces to any business/workplace are a little lacking for our size. As an example, we have many internal systems but unfortunately, these systems don’t always talk to each other. This can make it difficult to get at data or information in an efficient way. Additionally, while the training and onboarding process has vastly improved since I started in 2016, I still think there are some things we could do to further develop it like building out a single place to find all of the content. 2.) The only other thing that I can think of that needs improvement at Surescripts is that it can be easy to think and work in a silo. As I mentioned in the pros section, the people at this company are bright and passionate about what they do. We have great ideas all the time and sometimes we’re so excited to get that idea off the ground, we forget to check in with other areas of the organization to see if anyone else has the same idea or there is already work in progress. This is something that is starting to change thanks to senior leadership having more conversations earlier.

Pros

Surescripts invests in and promotes employee growth, including promoting movement within the company to learn new skills. They are a trusting company such that expectations are clearly defined; however, there is allowance for creativity & flexibility as to how you achieve your goals. They hire top talent which fosters growth as an employee through an ability to learn from your teammates. The CEO is very well-respected and very involved in the day to day operations of the company.

Cons

Surescripts is a very unique company and the learning curve can be steep given its network complexity. We touch every corner of healthcare though which makes the learning very exciting.
