Pros

flexible schedule, helping kids that struggle in school, focus on individual child, get to use business and education skills in one job, work independently, The sylvan programs are great but the pressure of sales and high demands become tiring

Cons

constant fear of losing job or closing center, pressure to make the sale, high turnover in management, complicated bonus system that is unattainable, evening and weekend hours, single director means only one full time person in center-- no feel for teamwork, isolated and lonely work environment

Pros

I started as a tutor and was promoted to Director of Education and then Center Director. The center was a small one located in Wasilla, Alaska. Great staff and owner.

Cons

Hours were hard on family life.
